Between the stress of school, dealing with family and everything that went along with my 86 year old Grandma breaking her neck (and slowly recovering) and the fact I REALLY REALLY put my back out of whack at the gym two weeks ago... I haven't been my normal, jolly self lately.

The few posts I've had time to make lately were done while being irritated if the wind blew in the wrong direction.

Got a deep tissue massage and chiropractor's adjustment today, and I can finally take a deep breath... and realized I'd been kinda ornery around here.

Sorry for that. :)

Unless you're Matthew Gregory, Mace, or Fitzo.... ;) :D

And no... NO GROUP HUGS

ohh man nick....sorry to hear about your grandma and back and all.....all the knowledge i get from your posts makes up for any awnriness:thumbup::D.....ryan

p.s.-hope grandma has a speedy recovery....ryan

Thanks Ryan :) She broke her C1 and C2 vertebrae... these are the two that keep us from walking around like bobble heads. My neighbor that's an EMT, told me that in 37 years as an EMT he had NEVER seen this injury NOT RESULT IN DEATH.

Luckily she's a healthy 86 and very tough physically (yet one of the nicest people I've ever known).

When you're the grandson that lives a few houses away AND can do woodwork, wiring, and metal work... it's amazing how many things come up that need to be done! LOL *crying* ;) :D

edit "can do" and "has the tools to do these jobs" may be different things, but the end result is the same... more things on the to-do list! ;) :D

Yeah, but I still think you're a wank...

I am glad things are doing better for Grandma, Nick. That had to be really tough on everyone.

Was that "deep massage" from that gay guy you talk about? I admire your 21st Century sensibilities.

Yep! I think part of why I'm in such a better mood is because he threw in something called a "happy ending" for free!!! What a guy!!! :D

:foot: :barf: :p :D

Glad to hear shes doing great. Good to hear that you apologized even tho Nathan still says your ugly. :D :jerkit:

Yep, sounds like that happy ending was just the trick you needed to boost your mood! :)

I certainly know how much a bad back can trash ones days, Nick. I'm glad the massage and chiro were able to get it fixed up for you. Be careful with it for a while and let it heal, my friend.

Everyone is entitled to be a little cranky now and then. I know when I am EVERYTHING seem to get under my skin!

Man! Did she fall and break the neck, or was it a pathological fracture of some kind? Yeah, I've seen a couple of patients through the years with C2 injuries, and even one with a C1 injury. And only one of those patients was able to do more than sit in a wheelchair. Your neighbor is right. The saying is, "C3-4-5 keep you alive" as those are the nerve roots that innervate the diaphragm. A break at 4 or higher usually results in respiratory distress and failure without prompt medical attention. Not to mention how thick the spinal cord is at those segments and any injuries there usually cause significant cord trauma or worse. I'm glad she's OK!

And I hope your back gets to feeling better. I started working out again just the other day (just cardio), and after I finished my work on the bike, I tried to do a short jog. One lab, and I had to stop with stabbing pain in my back. This old crush fracture I have back there just won't let me run or lift too heavy. So I know how those back injuries can hold you down.

Well, at least you got some TLC from another....fella??:jerkit::eek: (what do you know...an (in)appropriate time to use the jerkit smiley!)

Glad to see you posting again. Best wishes and prayers to you and your grandma.

HaHa... I knew of anybody here, you could fully appreciate Grandma's accident Nathan. She was getting the mail from the box (after she left here from visiting around 10pm) and the cat tripped her up. She fell and hit her forehead pretty damn hard on the asphalt road. Thank goodness another neighbor is an EMT/firefighter in training, and he rounded the corner not a minute after she fell and called it in (and me on the phone).

Initially we were worried about her hips... and the bleeding gash in her forehead. I watched the ER Doc irrigate the gravel out of that and stitch it up... seemed like she was just going to have a bad headache. Until they did her MRI.

A team of 3 neurosurgeons performed surgery on her the next morning. Her road to recovery has been traveled at record speed... for anyone, let alone an 86 year old woman. She was only in the hospital for about 3 weeks, and the day we brought her home, she got up out of the chair and walked in the house (much to our disagreement with the idea!).

Who knew she was so damn tough? lol

Thanks guys. :)

You sure know how to get us to read your postings..."My Apologies"...indeed. When I saw that I thought, what did he do THIS time? I should have know, just being a d__k again was all.

What we really want to see are more of your GREAT work in progress threads!!!

Be well. All our best to Grandma too.

What can I say? I can't separate my work from the rest of me I guess :D. She's so danged lucky, and she almost surely cannot comprehend how lucky she is. Thank God it didn't shift.

I dated a girl who's brother was horsing around with his friends and landed on his head. He had a headache and a sore neck for a while, but never got it looked at. That is until he started loosing feeling in his arm and couldn't lift his arm over his head. Luckily, his sis was an OT at a local hospital and got some strings pulled to get him straight back to radiology with a neurologist standing by. Turns out he had completely fractured his C4 vertebrae, but it had somehow not shifted. The amazing thing is that he walked around for nearly 2 weeks literally millimeters away from never walking again.

Nathan--- absolutely amazing!!!

Phil, I don't know what it is... Apparently if you have a knife style that a few people like, and 85% of a forum thinks you're an a-hole... then your threads get a lot of views.

Maybe it's like that Howard Stern movie. "Average fan listens for an hour and a half, to see what he's gonna say next. Average HATER listens for.... 2.5 hours.... to see what he's gonna say next." LMAO ;)

The flaw with that theory is it would require somebody to give a $hit. ;) :D

It's probably the sideways anvil.... Yep, that's definitely it!!! :D
