I'll just post pics of the dot of blood on my ASH-1. Anyone wanting to see the stitches, I'll post for everyone to see if I get two responses for it. Ok - stitches posted (3rd pic).
....and six stitches later. Oh, I should state that this was a complete accident while messing around with my kydex sheath. Not self inflicted, and in no way do I need metal-medical help. The knife came down at an angle and cut towards the crotch of the thumb leaving a meaty flap - thus stitches
Full story: 2300 hours Tues, just about to get off work (23:30) as I'm sitting in my patrol car looking at where I should trim the kydex sheath I'm making for the ASH-1. It was not yet riveted so the flap was still exposed....you see where this is going, right? Turn off the dome light, I go to put the knife back into the sheath. It's stiff and I shove it in there. I feel something hit my thumb and I'm thinking the only thing moving in my two hands is the knife.....oh...dang. I go to suck on it and I'm sucking a continuous stream of blood and I feel the flap-o-meat as I try to press it with my tongue. I realize it's not just a cut, but a slice. So I press my thumb and index finger, put my car in gear and go. Luckily the UVA ER is only like a mile away. So the lesson is - don't mess with a knife in the dark, with an unfinished sheath, while you're at work.
