My Award-winning Sheffield Bowie

**This is my Sheffield Style Bowie that won the "Best Forged" Non Damascus Knife prize at the 2005 Australian Knifemakers Guild Show in Melbourne last weekend. **

Hand forged 10-1/2inch blade of 1/4inch thick 1095 c arbon steel with one of the most detailed hamons I've ever done. Lots of utsuri, with multiple interrupted quench lines and shaddows - utsuri. Bainite grain structure just above the hamon - looks like woodgrain. 416SS grooved, sculpted asymmetric guard. Full tang with blued flats. 416SS pommell and handles of Merino sheepshorn. The guard is a friction fit scabbard with either a belt loop or belt stud carry with a genuine crocodilian skin inlay.

Simply outrageous! Jason, the hamon on that thing is stunning - especially since your pics really show the multiple shadows of the primary hamon (I just don't recall the official term for them...)
