Added some kabar micarta to my Crewman and then a Phat Bob as his new lil camping buddy for this fall/winter. Should get the job done :)

Pretty impressed by the Bob. My first Kabar folder. Very good design and value. That aus8 aint too bad either.

As for the 10 with micarta, I dont think that combo needs 'splainin around here :) just need to find a canvas micarta handle for my wetterlings :D

What you guys got for camp combos this cold season? Love to see em .

Cheers

I often carry that same combo and love it. I still use the factory sheath so I can have a little stash spot for fire making stuff. The Phat Bob is pretty tuff to beat for the price isn't it...just a slicing machine with that hollow grind. Thanks for sharing.

It really is a remarkable value. Lockup is solid and the thing is a slicer. Very comfortable in hand as well, even with the clip.

I have a kydex sheath for my Becker that is now a little loose because of the new micarta scales. Do you know an easy way to reform?

Very nice! I love my crewman!

I believe you can heat it in the oven (toaster oven if you have it) and rebend it. But you need something that gives a substantial amount of pressure!

I'm going to be most likely doing a 10/17/14 combo, or a 5/15 combo, or an Esee-3mil/Bk-3 combo... I haven't decided yet.

Fun decision, and thanks for the advice.

Ok in all honesty my go to is a BK7/BHK Bushcrafter all day long. The BK7 is in my pack and the Bushcrafter is on my side always.

LOL! Another combo I use is a 7 paired with a Condor Kephart. Variety is the spice of like, as long as there's a Becker on the menu :)

Kydex is actually fairly heat sensitive, so if you have a device that can conform to the shape of the sheath and apply fairly even pressure- you can do it with a heat gun.
My incredibly overbuilt loadout is a Seven, 14, Fin folder, and a Case peanut.
Oh, and a multitool. And usually a hunting knife if I'm hunting, although the 14 fills that role quite well.

My boys out getting a little fresh air on a hike up the Coquitlam river to Crystal Falls outside of Vancouver:

Really??? You gotta go and pull out the Camilus BK10 and I'm sure that's a D2 Phat Bob...you taunting bastard :)!

Wish it was a d2. But I'm not sure how much better it would be at the difficult tasks I impose - slicing apples and sausage. :) That aus8 aint bad.

Here's my other hiking partner teaching the correct way to cross a stream :)

Damn you Canadians and your perfect places all over the place! I couldn't find a forest that thick unless it had 20 feet of water and mangroves!

LOL. If you start walking north from my place, you can hike thru the mountains for 80 miles to Whistler and nary see a soul. Now, I might trade that for some tarpon flyfishing :)
