My Bedside Table

How do you get your Pit bull loaded? Mine won't drink.

Statistically you are more likely to have your gun used on you or a family member than you are to ever use it on a "bad guy". I sure hope you train with it and can wake instantly with full faculties turned on...

Somebody last month shot to death some poor kid who was sleepwalking and entered their house. I used to sleep walk as a kid...

I keep a loaded pit bull, phone and a flashlight by my bed per advice from the police :)

Don't waste your breath brownshoe. You'd be right except that we all live in fear that there's a boogie man lurking around every corner, and even though you have better odds of being attacked by a lightning bolt we all buy Power Ball tickets because somebody has to win. Sure, a few people live in bad area's and maybe some heat is warranted, but for 99.9%, it actually is a liability. Statistics don't lie.

Having done a fair amount of statistics... The devil really is in the details and I can pretty much make them say whatever I want... :D

Not going to lie Scout, I really want a Sebenza now, gorgeous.
Here's my bedside table, typically. IProtec Jag flashlight, small guardian light, Kershaw Emerson Cqc-4kXL, my Taurus PT-845, my AR with a 20 round mag. I don't like having to go far for self defense at night, especially with how far away from people I live.

Just a heads up, you may want to consider Putting some ear plugs near by or string them to your AR. On the extremely off chance that you would fire your AR inside your home.... You could literally blow out your ears. .223/556 AR's are loud as a mofo already, but inside were talking permanent damage possibly. Just something to think about that some people over look. You can get good ear protection that doesn't block out normal sounds, only loud stuff if that's a concern. Which you already know of course. Just throwing it out there. Other wise I would just stick to the handgun. I've fired a .380 indoors without ear protection and it wasn't bad at all from what I can remember. Slight ringing I think but no vertigo or anything crazy. 223/556 however.... Makes me cringe, not something I'd want to do.

Unless of course you just have it there Incase you need to bring it outside quickly. That's reasonable. I don't mean to assume. My AR isn't in arms length where I sleep but I could get to it within 2 or 3 seconds easily, aside from that and my 9mm and .380 which I carry everything else is locked up.

Love the pictures and responses. Some gave me quite the chuckle. No, I don't live in Syria, I live in Texas. And I'm not sure about the boogieman comment- did you see my pictures? I'm not afraid of a damn thing! 😉

Now that I am safe and sound at home, here's the bedside table. That's a Silencerco Trifecta flash hider sticking up behind the lamp...

Don't have a photo of my night stand but this goes on it with my iPhone.

(Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel installed)

I think of the way Hollywood portrays shooting and cringe.
I kNOW that there is a large segment of the gen pop that would believe you can be in 3 shootouts a day, expending 50+ shells, and still have the ability to hear after day 2...

No pic, but there's usually an iPhone, TV remote, knife and an alarm clock on my nightstand.
The gun is within reach, but not visible and not where an intruder would expect it to be.

Sure, the odds are against me ever needing the gun, but the odds are also against me getting in a car accident, or having a house fire.
It doesn't stop me from having insurance...

I guess the same can be said for fire extinguishers, road flares, jumper cables, gas can, life insurance, auto insurance, health insurance, band-aids, etc., I mean what are the odds I haven't used any of these today, yesterday, last week or last month. Statistically I probably won't tomorrow or any time in the near future.

Lol, the liability line... I wonder if the people in San Bernardino were thinking the same thing this week?

Wait until grandkids start visiting. That'll have you placing your firearms elsewhere when not on you.

I've got 2 handguns, 3 knives, 3 flashlights, 6 AKs, a CZ Scorpion Evo, a suppressor, and my cell phone on/leaning on my bedside table right now.

Love the Bible in your picture! That's definitely an important part of being prepared.

So I guess my table lamp, snore guard and bottle of water aren't going to cut it. Wait, the toenail clippers are deadly.

All my knives are in the drawers of the box that is my night stand. Ruger AR 556 in the corner with a 30 round mag in. S&W sd40ve with a spare mag. There's usually a flashlight there as well. If there's a bump I'll just grab the pistol. Also an 18 inch Tramontina below the table. The table is where I throw my crap from the day.

I keep most things (wallet, keys, pocket knives, cell phone) on a shelf in the closet or in the guns safes (also in the closet). On my night stand is a lamp, bottle water, kindle, some fishingmagazines, alarm fob, small mag light and a model 65 S&W .357 (and yes I keep my training current). The .357 part is kind of a ritual as it stays in a safe during the day and only comes out at night. Unfortunately I mostly travel by air so don't have much of a travel night stand ritual. If I am driving, the Kimber Solo Carry goes on the night stand.
