Gundy, this is classical! You can tell right away that you either had it translated my a computer or looked it up yourself. 'Faden' actually means thread, but for sewing. 'Posten' means post, but the kind a soldier stands on. A 'Schrottflinte' would be a trash gun (Schrott=trash), you meant a 'Schrotflinte'. 'Meßgerät' means gauge, but the gauge you use to measure something, not the word for barrel size.
