My Benchmade bender- what's next?

Well I have a small classic Sebenza and it is a VERY nice knife but I would get 3 BM's. BM is my favorite production knife company, has been since the mid 90's. I like Spyderco as well but there's just something about Bm knives for me. Although the Sebenza is a great knife I never carry mine anymore. Everyone is different but thats my take.

I'd vote for one sebenza unless you are going to buy LE Benchmades. Then I'd go with those. I have several Benchmade's that I really do love but none of them get carried as much as my Sebenza. its definitely step (or two) above Benchmades...for me at least.

I say stock up on Benchmades. I don't have too many anymore, (9) but over the years have owned dozens. I do have 14 sebenzas though. I enjoy my BM's more for some reason. I think even if you have 14 sebenzas that are all different they are still all sebenzas. BM's models vary widely.

I am going to hijack my own thread.
Would you rather buy 3 benchmades, or 1 sebenza?
I can try, but will never have them all... maybe it is time to step up another notch?

How about both? After I got a small and large sebenza last year, I've bought 6 Benchmades. The Sebenza's are great, but the axis lock is king for me right now! All of the Benchmade's I've handled have been top notch too. The addiction gets worse with time.

Great perspectives. I realize they are not mutually exclusive (I keep buying kershaw as well).
I just ordered another benchmade - looks like an LE BM is next (or two).
The sebenza is a huge jump in price - and hard to justify (for now) as a user. As my bank acct grows, so too will my tastes.
Perhaps rather than using my LE BM, I can trade it for a sebenza someday?

Again - consensus is: buy them all!

If you really want it, you'll get the Sebenza eventually. I don't know if they're worth the price, but they are a superb example of fine craftsmanship. The odd thing about user knives (at least for me) is that price doesn't necessarily dictate which will be a user and which will just be admired. The Sebenza's are fantastic edc knives.

Which Benchmade did you just get?

BM 707. My normal store didn't have the rift in the config I wanted (grey handle/satin/plain blade).
but it may need to take a back seat to an LE 805 or 806

Good choice. I haven't looked that closely at the 707, but now that I have, I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on it pretty soon. No matter how much I want a knife, I will not buy it in a configuration I don't like..... Combo edge. Who the heck actually likes those anyway?!

The same people that want the Lord of the Rings Collectors edition swords. Oh - and the Franklin Mint.

edit - don't mean to offend. Combo edges are useful. It just seems to be the edge of choice for the mall ninja crowd as well. Hope I didn't offend again.

My 2¢...

I have a 710 in D2, just ordered the 710 in M390. The LE 530 w/blue handles and S30V blade for $75 on closeout is a steal. Dejavoo and Kulgera are also discontinued. Some still left in retail channels, get them while you can. If a Mini Grip in M390 shows up on the exchange, grab one, only 200 were made. I have doubles on the 530, Dejavoo, Kulgera, and MG M390. Great knives all and worth holding onto.

950 Rift. I've carried this knife for some time now and love it so much I seriously doubt I'll ever buy another knife. Crazy right? This knife is just so freaking awesome. The reverse tanto is unbeatable in design. The handle design is perfection and has got to be the coolest looking knife on the planet besides being amazingly ergonomic. The size of the blade/knife really is not an issue when carrying so don't let that throw you off of this masterpiece.
