Happy contest to all participants.

Where is one supposed to get 1000 cardboard boxes from? :D

USPS of course !!!

You send me a check for the cost of the boxes and I'm in, I'll use my S90V millie and to make it fair I won't even sharpen it through the whole test. :)

Well it would stimulate the economy somewhat I guess.. remember to recycle. :)

I think they are free in US.. In here you have to pay for air. Luckily there's an recommendation by some author to fix the postal prices to the more realistic prices (because now the prices of packages is set to fund other itella marketing, wich is obviously wrong. But hey, finland, promised land of goverment sponsored cartells!)

Cool! And after that, we can can fly up in an airplane, jump out the door, me with a parachute and you with bed sheet, and we will see who gets to the ground first!

So, all you are really saying is that you finally figured out the best tool for the job is the one designed for the job. ...yay!

USPS of course !!!

I'm sorry but a statement like this kind of Pisses me off...Those boxes are NOT free. They are paid for by tax payer ( me ) money. Its a great service that USPS offers and since the postal service is constantly running in the red. I think that it is a distinct possibility that the Post office will start charging for these Priority Boxes to keep Bozos like the OP from taking boxes for "Free" to play cut boxes with my knife game.....stupid..

I dunno about the rest of you, but if I have to cut a ton of boxes up I am going to use a razor knife for the job.

When it's just a few I use whatever knife I have on me at the time.

+1 on that... DipS#*%t idea...know what i'm sayin???

Give me your location there big boy and I'll alert the local Post Office that you are coming. Those boxes are provided as a service to customers mailing with Priority mail. They are damn well not free!!!!!!!!

Since the Post Office is not funded by the taxpayer, but derives its revenue by charging for goods and services, the Priority Mail boxes are damn well not free. The price is included in the charge for sending Priority Mail.

The whole thread is a joke and a tribute to those "Best knives". If you didn't get it yet, I'm sorry. Have a sense of humor.

I don't take boxes from usps just to cut them up, but since it is the most common way to ship packages in the USA, I have accumulated and destroyed a big number of those used usps boxes.

Hell, give them your ID number and place an order. A week later a semi full will be delivered to your door.

Why 1000 cardboard boxes? What size do they need to be? I think it would be better if the contest would be to see how fast it takes to carve through a 4x4 or maybe shorten the amount of cardboard to cut. Idk about 1000

Oh man... I guess not many people are getting the idea of the original post. My point simply is that there is No "best knife". There is a knife that is you or someone else prefers (best for a person), there is maybe a best knife for a job. My example there is to show that a given task can be performed better using a $15 utility knife, but it doesn't make it "the best".

1000 cardboard boxes task is because I strongly believe that utility knife will be the best in this competition (comfy handle + thin replaceable blades), especially if you consider the cost vs performance ratio.
If there will be a task to cut through 4x4, then I would take a circular saw. But this is not the point.

I am a little confused with the rules. You get to bring extra blades and I only get one blade? A razor is definitely a better box cutter, but whatever knife I have on me is a time saver.
