My Big HI Blades

The reason you don't see a lot of khukuri past the 20" mark is because they consume a lot of coal at the forge. Prices of fuel and supplies have steadily risen over the last few years and since the very large khukuri are somewhat of a niche market is was decided that it was more cost effective to stay with making the bread and butter lengths and models and some swords. Auntie may still take special orders for larger khukuri, but you'd have to ask her.

FYI... I have won a few DOTD with larger blades in these past few months. I have a 23in chitilangi "big brother" and I bought atleast five swords within the last 6 months. The big ones are there if you catch them fast enough. I have my heart set on a 30 kobra... I am just waiting patiently :D

Take some breaths for sure while your waiting for the 30" Kobra. Don't believe I've ever heard of anything close to that popping up on a DOTD. But it could happen.
Don't think there's too many of those around and it would be a shark frenzy for sure.

Just don't hold your breath, you'll eventually turn blue and fall over and won't care about sharp pointy things at all anymore.

Advice taken into consideration. I saw a 30in for sale on the exchange but the guy never got back to me. I thought for sure I would get it but.. oh well. I guess I will have to special order one.

def it is why I went gold, and would not have been able to make my awesome deal with ted if not for this, highly advisable if you want to collect HI from the best source ( older hi collectors)

I bought a number of knives on the Exchange before I got my paid (Gold) membership. I think you need a paid membership to sell, but not to buy, unless that has changed recently.

gurkha just saw that I had this, and I may need to fund recent purchases in a number of venues

willing to talk :D-- is a 2006 kumar kobra 30 inch ( measures at 32 I think OAL maybe 36 it has been a while) by yuvraj, kami mark looks a bit like a feather I think it is a candle

So does this expose Gehazi as one of the (and I quote) "very old, beaten up, used-to-play-with-dinosaurs-before-becoming-HI-crazed" collectors?

Hoping my quote is exact, I have to say that I wouldn't have thought we had such dignified forum members around; he seemed to be younger...

my collecting luckily started in 1999 with my brother, and I picked up most of my "will never sell" pieces at that time; so technically yes I am a old timer , but, I only recently got back into it after an epic journey to collect all the blades I gave as gifts in 1999 and 2000 lol, after accomplishing this I came to HI and have never left. I think I joined in 2012 looking for a kothimoda by bura, and upon hearing that he was no longer able to work I acted sassy then stop being sassy by the power of auntie's withering kindness and kept buying knives. was never as much of a fan as I am now, never joined forums.( in the 99)

That's not THAT ancient ;); nevertheless, nice to have "old timers" around, that's a wealth of information and experience.

Definitely interested, just bought a couple off auntie this week so I am toothless for a couple weeks but I WANT IT!

Going to bed now... I will be dreaming of that monster Gehazi. Please hold it for me if you don't mind. PM me so we can talk in a proper setting.

Oh.. I def need to pay for a at least a standard membership, this place has become a second home.

I think I like my 30" Sirupati more than I would like a 30" Kobra. The seem so fragile to me. Well, I don't use my 30" Sirupati either, I guess it is kind of an extra.
