Nice job! You'll be glad you took the time later on. I painted mine before I assembled it almost a year ago, and all it takes to make it look like new is a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth.
 
You could scavenge the motor on that other grinder in the background and use that for the time being, maybe?? Looks great! I want one.

This is only a 1HP motor. I want to do this right on the KMG and go with a 1.5hp if I keep 115V or more likely go to 230V and get about 3hp. With variable speed of course. :D It's only money like they say.

That's deeply cool, congratulations! Yeah, you can't have too much horsepower. I have 1.5hp, and sure wish it was at least 2 and if I ever buy another machine it will be 3hp. Get that bad boy running! :D
 
cute KMG mine is rust/brown :) and not near as clean

so far as the Hp im running a direct drive 1.5 hp with a VFD
works great

i dont see all the big deal about 3+ hp
