My BM940 Came with a s90v blade, could it be fake?

nice knife, ive been looking at the 940-1 as well. maybe down the line ill get one. ive got the stryker as my next purchase. i love benchmades, especially after this accidental hook up, it saved me some dough.

Nope. It's a screw up from the factory.

If that is the case, does the 940-1 have that as its blade stamp, does the 940 under the butterfly say 940 or 940-1 on a 940-1?

Is the blade stonewashed? It kind of looks like it but I can't tell from the photo. If it is then it's likely a blade from a 940-1 that was accidentally fitted with a 940 handle and not a misprint. The standard 940 blade isn't stonewashed but the 940-1 blade is.

yeah the blade is stone washed , sorry for bad pic. but on the front under the butterfly it just says s90v, iuno if thats whats on the 940-1. can some one chime in?
at first i thought the blade was scratched cuz it didnt look like my presidio 520 satin blade.

Yea the 940-1 S90V blade is stonewashed and the 940 S30V blade is satin. I think it's safe to say that you do indeed have an S90V blade correctly marked rather than an S30V blade errantly marked.

The 940-1 blade has "940" written under the butterfly. I think you won the Benchmade poor quality control lottery.

Oops sorry I meant it has 940 under it. And s90v on the other side.:D I'll post a better pic when I get home.

Definitely says 940 under the butterfly not S90V. Looks to be stonewashed. I'd say you scored nicely here.

Maybe benchmade is balancing out the price increase they put on the 940 a little while back.......
