Great looking stuff Gary. That's a beautiful place and some beautiful knives too. I especially like your discount shipping plan.

. I hope your father-in-law doing OK. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Dave. As for the discount shipping, my daughter actually paid for her own ticket this trip, so I DID beat the international shipping charges.

Thanks for asking about my wife's Dad; he's doing much better than anyone expected a month ago, and in fact may be discharged from the rehab facility today sometime.
Thanks GT, that was very kind of you. I particularly enjoyed the evening shot. We only got to see it during the day.
You're welcome, Greg. We visited Toledo on almost the shortest day of the year, arriving about 9:45am and leaving about 6:30pm, so seeing the city lit up was just a lucky deal. Here's one more photo of sunset sky through an arch in the city's central plaza.
Fantastic knives GT, and wonderful photographs. I too have had the problem, in both Spain and France, and in the UK for that matter, of buying 'carbon' bladed knives, which turned out to be stainless.
Thanks, Jack.

I didn't think the stainless/carbon problem would come up with online ordering, but I guess a fallible human still has to go find the right knife to put in the box for shipping!
I guess the war of the rings is a crusade!

only the king is there tho and Lady Arwen! nice armor
Toledo seems to have adopted
LOTR as a way to boost their tourist economy! There were associated movie posters in many shops. I can't imagine that Middle Earth would have settled for even world-renowned Toledo steel when they could get elvish armaments!
Very nice collection, Gary.
That suprise knife indicates she has excellent taste.
Out of ??? what knife does she EDC?
Steve, she doesn't carry a pocket knife (as far as I know), perhaps at least in part because she works in a school where they're not welcome. I did buy her a nice Arcos kitchen knife when we were at a cuchilleria in Valencia. And I'm thinking of getting her some knife with tortoise shell covers since her current sunglasses have tortoise shell frames.
I remember your previous threads on Spain (and your daughter) very well. it's good to see this has what promises to be a long experience for you both. A return to Spain is on my list of things to do in the next few years, so I'm taking notes.
I hope you get to go back, eisman; it certainly was a wonderful, memorable trip for me, and I'd be thrilled to do it again sometime. But my daughter announced that she'll probably work in Spain for only another year, and then return to the US to find a "real job".
I couldn't help mentally matching GT's Toledo with one that's a bit older:
The viewpoints don't look all that dissimilar, allowing for the camera lens perspective and that of 400+ years ago.
Do you know if the Zamorano shop takes orders from abroad? And I really like that bubinga sodbuster-type.
Very cool, AreBeeBee! That's an El Greco painting, right? I think he took some artistic liberties with positioning some buildings, but the similarity between a painting from about 1600 and a photo from January 2, 2015 is uncanny!

I don't know if the Zamorano website ships internationally. I looked around a bit on the website after my daughter gave me the knife, but I think only his swords are shown there. (But I didn't spend much time browsing the site.)
Gary I don't know how I am just now seeing this thread. I know it could have nothing to do with the catchy title.

Some wonderful knives and some seriously beautiful places that you visited. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Thanks for the kind words, Ron. I think it's probably hard sometimes for people to get me to shut up about my Spanish trip!
