My wife surprised me with an early Father's Day gift! The best kinda gal is the one who buys you knives, am I right?

Kershaw Cryo, model 1555TI. Rick Hinderer design. Ah, who am I kidding? Y'all know the specs, here are some pics

Thought it would be a little too small at first, but it feels great in hand. Perfect size for EDCing at my job

Lock-up is solid as a rock. No blade play whatsoever.

Blade isn't centered, but for the price I didn't expect perfection. I can always go back and tweak it, anyways.

Knives, Star Wars, and GAMC. That pretty much sums me up.

A shot of the Cryo in the very capable hands of my beautiful wife. Don't let her looks fool you, she's lethal haha.

And a final random shot of our awesome daughter posing with the DD guys :)

Overall I'm pretty stoked on this knife. Planning to change scales on it soon. Will post pics when I can. Thanks for reading! :D

I have been thinking of picking one of these up for a while now. Gotta love good looking ladies with knives too :D

Pull the trigger and get one. For $30-35 you can't go wrong. It should be one hell of a little workhorse

Love it! Mine is literally "out for delivery" as i type this, according to the USPS tracking. U thinking about doing the finger choil modification? Im gonna try it

Gongrats, and youre a lucky man with such a beautiful wife. Mine is jealous of her sweet hair (she was looking over my shoulder as i was scrolling the thread)

Awesome! I have a love/hate relationship with tracking updates. I find that I keep checking my mail every 20 minutes when I know something's out on delivery haha. I've been thinking about the choil mod, but am nowhere near qualified enough to pull it off. I also want to switch out the handle scale for a G10 one. To be honest, the weight isn't an issue for me, but I can see how other people are trying to cut an ounce or so.

Haha thank you for the kind words, and tell your wife that hair comes with a price. We now own several blue pillowcases!

@powernoodle

Thanks for putting this in my thread! I actually stumbled upon it yesterday while at work, and I must say I greatly enjoyed reading it! You have a way with words, buddy. Wish I could afford a techno, but my wife's bday is coming up and she was sweet enough to get me the Cryo

Well, I had a Techno and a Cryo. I sold the Techno and kept the Cryo. The Techno is a fine knife, but it just wasn't for me - especially at the price. So be happy with that Cryo and don't think that you need something "better".

Thank you, noodle. Coming from one with far greater knowledge and experience in regard to blades, that does mean a lot.

I'm living proof that one's post count can be inversely proportional to the quality of his posts. But thank you anyway.

Congrats! I just got my standard 1555 Cryo today and I'm really digging it.

I would love to see a US made version of this knife - whether under Kershaw or ZT line. Same size... but with titanium slabs(still the frame lock) with an S30V/S35VM/ELMAX blade... Keep the flipper/speedsafe option... Would make it a little lighter and with a better blade steel this thing would be killer. I'd buy one or more for sure.

I'm really enjoying the Cryo, it's just a mental thing for me on the Chinese made/cheaper blade steel. Love the design though!

Well congrats to you too, Uncle Malice! I know what you mean. If it was made of better materials that would make it an even better edc, but I'm totally happy with the knife in my hand. I just destroyed some boxes here at work with this bad boy. They didn't stand a chance!

I had thought about waiting for the Cryo II, but I kept seeing pictures and reading reviews on this little tank. I had to get it

Very well written article, noodle! Honestly makes me happier I have the cryo, seeing how it stacks up against a much higher priced knife.

Oh yeah, got it in today. The flipper has some sharp edges, and I wish the screws were countersunk, but otherwise I'm really happy.

The deep carry clip is what pushed me over the edge, since I wanted to have a new office knife but didnt want it to be noticeable. M current is the spyderco ukpk, And its even more hidden. But it's nice to have options now.

I picked up a Cryo not too long ago, and I'm enjoying mine too. I think I'm probably the only person who prefers using the thumbstuds to the flipper. What I'd love to see is this knife, minus the flipper, with an aluminum scale on the front to lighten it a bit, made in the USA, with ELMAX steel. Sort of a baby 0550. Either way, sweet gift, I'm to use this thread to influence my wife via the bandwagon approach: "See honey, all the other wives buy their husbands knives."

Totally agree! I love the deep carry clip. I work at a college and we have a heavy security presence, so I know a blade will be frowned upon. Nonetheless, I never leave home without a knife. I have no problem taking the Cryo to work with me. Let me know how well it does for you!

Ain't it great when your woman buys you a sweet knife as a gift!

Haha definitely! I'm a lucky man ;)

Do it! Maybe we can start a huge peer pressure thing and get a buttload of new gear! I'm supposed to get a G10 scale from Don, so I'm excited to see how the weight changes. I have no problem with the current weight, though. I think it's a beefy little knife and I'm really pleased with it.
