well i went out to the shop and did some forging, first i worked on a customers order for a 13" long blade that is 2 3/4 wiches wide ot of L6. i got the 1" round bar all flatered out and now i just need to widen it a bit more and shape it. but i put that down and grabbed fome of don's W2 that has been sitting the whole time i had my cast on my arm. so i thought why not. so i sliced off a 1/2" cookie fro the end the the 2.125 round and forged it out. i must say i took it slow as i did not want over work my broken wrist. so i used my press and then forged to shape with my small hammer and i must say i'm happy with my results. here is a picture. I ended up with no hammer Marks :D but i still need to work on my scale control as it gers pounded into the surface and leaves little pits. the pits are not bad at all and will clean up very easy. I just keep working to get better, its very sattisfying to shape a small chunk of steel into a knife. this knife is for Erik Boese (TekSec) for the x-mas exchange. i had one made but i was not happy with the quality and so i wanted to make another on then i broke my hand and could not do anything.

Started with a 1/2" thick chunk of 2.125" round stock.
Total length is 1.25
tang is 4.25
blade is 6" x 1.25"
steel is W2

the good thing is that the hand i broke s the hand i use to hold the tongs. so it is not swinging a hammer.
