My Broken Skull

I got a green scale Broken Skull, a few weeks ago and was surprised how easy it is to carry. So thin I can hardly feel it in my pocket.
Now I would like a smaller version, say a 3" blade??

Just got one too and it's in my pocket right now. Great design. I think a smaller version is a good idea. And please don't inscribe the stupid name on the blade!

I've had 2 and I'm a big fan. I always have to mention, "stupid name, great design." It has made a great yard work knife and handles camping trips fairly well too. It's a whole lot of blade in a small package, kind of like a working man's BM 943.

I recommended a smaller version a while back on the "what would you like to see from Cold Steel in 2018" thread (post 130). I think a 3.5" or even 3.25" would be a little nicer for EDC purposes, even though I'm limited to 3" carry where I work. 4" length can just be a bit long in the pocket when sitting down and standing up a lot in the office for me (assuming I could carry it but it does limit it's carry around the house).

The value on the broken skull is also amazing, I don't know a knife in that price range with as good of steel, weight, ease of carry, and ergos. The endura is probably close but I prefer the linerless G10 and cts-xhp a good bit over the endure and the ergos are better. I also think the endure is ugly by comparison. I don't know many other knives that are just that good for what the knife is achieving.

I think the only regret I have is that I don't own an orange one yet to go with my excessively expanding collection of orange handled knives. The blue and OD green are pretty great looking though and the coated blade has held up better than expected to cutting up wood, vines, digging mushrooms, and other random tasks.

have a bunch of them. kinda liked the lone star version better, looks wise. prefer the xhp over aus8, but the rest i prefer the lone star. just wished it had real stag instead of plastic.

Thought some crappy pictures would bring come color to the thread. My blue broken skull next to a lawman in xhp and orange spyderco millie for comparisons of size and thickness.

Those are three nice knives!! Very good taste in blades.

Don't like the name, billboard blade, but do like the size and thinness? Get a Mercator.

+1 I had to sell the one I had because I could not get over the stupid logo. And the fact that Steve Austin supposedly designed the knife when we know it was A.D.
I insist all my knives be designed by wrestler / actors ! Who better ?

The Mercator is a great, classic knife. But the Broken Skull would beat the holy hell out of it in a street fight, lol. While I do love my old K-55 , it cant compare to the more robust, modern design of the Broken skull. But as MANY people have already said,I wish they would make it without all the crap writing on the blade.

A little black nail polish goes a long way for correcting lettering we don't like to see. I tried a sharpie just now and it covers it up from afar but it still shows through pretty readily up close. I don't care that much as the knife design more than outweighs the marketing lettering they left on the blade.

In my racing days, we used copious amounts of sharpie marker on the lettering of tires when we used wasn't given to us by sponsors (sometimes they just don't have what you need available for the conditions).

I reckon so.

Besides the obvious reasons of a logo.

I like everything else.

A smaller version would be perfect.3.5, 3.25

With a small logo.small......

A 3.5 inch version would be nice, but there is something about this trim, light, strong 4 inch version that I really like.
I m a big fan of the Endura with a zdp blade as that was an excellent work knife for me for several years. But this Broken Skull is definitely comparable in quality and less expensive. Good job Cold Steel!

I haven't looked for one for years, but when I was a kid and used to put together car models, they had paint pens for painting them. One of those in black would probably do the job well too.
