My camera has been off duty for too long...

I really like that handle combo. Great pictures, I am glad you shared.

In the pre-digital era I used to work with Nikon (F4s). I had a Fuji Finepix consumer digicam to go along for the last 6 a 7 years. Last year I decided it was time for a dSLR. I did some serious thinking about what I wanted. Then found out that Nikon premium glass has a premium pricetag.

I took another approach and looked on Flickr and Pbase at pics that I liked best (color, sharpness, lighting etc.) It was a "shock" to discover that approx. 75% of the pics I liked best were shot with Oly gear. That was the decider for me. Two friends of mine have a D700 and a D300s and most of the time I think my pics from my E3 are nicer to theirs:o The Zuiko lenses are amazing even the "standard grade" lenses. Also the Oly in-camera JPEG engine is sublime. I never shoot RAW anymore.
High ISO is a weaker point of the Oly system but most of the time I'm under 800 so that's no problem for me.

That is a good way to do it. I have never been a Nikon guy but have no real complaints about its system. I do like the full frame ability of the Canon system and the new Sony(?). Olympus always had top quality glass which was more expensive then the 'consumer' glass for Canon or Nikon but less pricey then the 'L' series and equivalent Nikon.

I have a large selection of Canon lenses, pro-sumer, 'L' and some very nice third parties. My range is 28-300 in various f2.8 zooms and a few faster primes as well as three dedicated flashes. With dedicated teleconverters I can get out to 600mm at f5.6 before adding for digital crop factor, of course that mean my wide angle ability pretty much sucks. Switching over to a new system is not a feasible option for most people in my situation, not that I am complaining as I really enjoy my system. My dSLR bodies are 'ancient' and about worthless now but still take great pics and have made me some money in the past. If I had to do it over again, starting now, I am not sure what system I would go for. 2/3 is starting to have some really nice gear and flexibility.
