My Camp design.....good or bad ?

I like the first design. I would like to see that just how it is. The knife that you thought would work with the TTSK worked, why not this one

I've just done a MK3 which might be the best version yet,I'll post the pic tomorow !

Looks cool , If you don't mind I did a little crude edit to what I would like to see, I like the handle and the bottom shape, I personally don't think the weight gained by the extra on the top would make that much difference.

just my thoughts, it been awhile since I have done any knife designing

I like the rounded top buddy, it seems more functional for cupping your hand over it. I especially like the flared butt, great for chopping-even while wearing gloves!

I like it Pit. I do see one issue that had been brought up. It would be near impossible to use on a flat surface as in preparing food. I don't mind that, I just know you were looking for an all in one type design. As was also mentioned, I too see a modified kukri here, which I really like. The hump seems a bit out of place aesthetically speaking. I'd bet moving it forward toward the tip and easing up the angle of the hump would still give you a good gripping surface as well as putting the chopping weight where it counts. Overall I like the design and think you are up to something very useful!

I think it's neat and interesting. I'd stick to your original design and see how it turns out.

Reminds me of a miniature barong. :)

That's what I have done with the MK3 !

It would be great to see this design come to life, pitdog. It definitely has some unique features, and I like the fact that it is an up-scaled version of a knife that has seen a lot of use. It's particularly neat to see a large hump (I have heard it referred to as a bonbe in the context of a nessmuk) on the spine.

Looking forward to seeing the progression of this piece!

All the best,

- Mike

the bonbe styling really shines on this knife. Too bad you dont here about them often. Coincidentally, rick and i were just talking about them.

+1 on the emphasized bonbe suggestion...

I would stick to a traditional bonbe, though..... the new style is like putting mustard on a steak, IMHO.

I like the original design. Ugly as hell, but looks very functional, which makes it beautiful.

When I first looked at the first design I thought it was strange looking and maybe even ugly but could be usefull. Then I looked at the second one and said, that first one is cool and no I want one. The hump on the back could be slightly different but I'd take it the way it is and modify at my discretion.

Am looking forward to see version 3. :)

This is my MK3 and I think it's the one I now like the best. I shifted the weight further towards the front and gave it slightly more belly. On all three designs I kept the overall dimensions the same and also the handle to blade ratio, the only thing I changed was the blade shape !

... all i see in this is a small kukri that's convex instead of concave in the blade shape. anyone else seeing it this way? ...

I thought exactly that when I considered the two most obvious changes I'd make:

1] I see no point to the hump being where it is on something that will chop. Shift that mass forward.

2] The “concave” gives away shearing force. If you're going to bend it a recurve sort of shape harnesses more power.

Kaboom – Kinda looks like a Cold Steel Khuk silhouette

As it stands, as primarily a cutter as opposed to a chopper that can also cut, I wonder at the advantage over a bullnose skinner profile.

The Tip seems overly fat to me, but still looks really good. I really want to see this in steel. Would love to try it out.

I like the design, but the handle doesn't look too comfy for me. It's simply too ergonomic, the height difference of the middle and first part of the handle is way too big.
