My Car Was Stolen, But They Couldn't Handle the Knife

One time my uncle had his stereo stolen. He thought it was funny they took the cassette tape out and left it on the seat.

Perhaps they read Bladeforums and have heard numerous reports of Benchmade's poor quality control, and decided not to bother 🤣

Or maybe they're still mad because Benchmade chopped up their guns :p

Seriously though, as stupid as people are these days, it's entirely possible that they don't understand the concept of a Kydex sheath and thought the entire thing was plastic.

Back in 2018 thieves broke into my parent's house where I still keep part of my collection of knives. I know they looked at all of them but they didn't take any. Nothing fancy but still..🤷🏼‍♂️

They may have left the knife to avoid a weapons charge if caught by the cops. When I was car-jacked, the cops spotted my car and chased it, lost it, found it, the kids left their shotgun in the car but took my glovebox folder and maps. Took 90 min. from car-jack to recovery. I was lucky :)

Dang man, I hadn't heard about this little trick for stealing Kia's, that's pretty crazy. Over here it was always the Hondas and Acuras that were constantly stolen. Guys would walk around with "jingle keys", a big ring of Honda keys that they'd collected. There were only so many variations of key patterns made for these Hondas, like an insanely low amount of variations. Once they'd collected them all, the world was their oyster.

KIA..
This happened in Buffalo, joy riding teen girl was killed. Parents admitted she was trouble, and complained, social services didn’t help her.
They‘re suing KIA.
This was hard to process, on a couple of levels.

I have to say that based on my last 20 years of employment, they didnt stick around after the crash. Most of those crashes are a low speed bailout fleeing on foot and letting the car roll into something. When the crashes are worse, that was caused by driving like an arse and then wrecking. In that case they also immediately flee. That knife was probably left in a hurry. The hat was probably worn as an attenp to conceal their identity.

And you are correct. I got some followup info and it was a case where they bailed and fled on foot.
