my cat died about 30 minutes ago

My deepest sympathies to you and your parents. I lost my cat a little over a year and a half ago. I still miss him very much but it does get easier with time. Like your cat he was a member of the family. These days when I think about him I usually just smile. Smoke and prayers are headed your way.
 
I've lost 3 cats over the years (Fluffy, Tiger-Man, & Toby), and it's never an easy thing. My cats, (Stanley, and Lady May-Bug), ARE my a part of my family, and I almost hope they they out-live me, as I don't look forward to "losing" either of them.

Time does heal the pain and loss that you feel now.

I too think that adopting another cat or kitten from a shelter is a fantastic way to share your love with another animal in need.
 
Sorry to hear about your loss my friend, my cats are very much like our children for my wife and I. cats truly bring a magical presents into a home. we just adopted another small 1 year old cat from a local shelter to keep our 5 year old cat company and they are just so sweet together.

I do feel and know your pain my friend, just know and remember that your cat is better now and most likely knew she/he was loved and cared for when she moved on.
