well after a ton of work and even more elbow grease she is all clean. man she look like a million bucks, she has lost some paint but thats OK. I'm probably not going to repaint her because i think she looks great now that she is clean. man talk about a ton of parts, i had not worked on it for a week or so and then i was like man where did all these parts come from. but with out further adu i give you some before and after shots of my new old Champion Leather sewing machine.

here is the before shots, this is what it looked like when i picked it up. the whole thing was covered with grease and wax that had dirt and crap mixed with it as well as some mud hornet nests. so it was a pain it the butt to clean. it was completely froze up when i got it and would not turn over at all.

Very nice! Let's see some sheaths! ;-)

I was wondering where you've been lately, now we know!

Great work!!!!
Did you find much wear?
It looks great. Painting it is not as important as how it works. I can't wait to see some leather work!!!

not much wear on stuff at all. there was some places that had some where the thread runs through but its not bad. it runs like a champ now.

So sweet. I would suggest keeping your tender bits well clear of her. That beast would track right up your arm. My granny was a seamstress long ago. She had an industrial sewing machine, no where near as beastly as that leather stitcher, but I have seen it run over her hand before. Not good.

Sweet! I did something similar with a Southbend lathe. Great fun and feeling of accomplishment to see these old girls in all their glory. :D

Thanks for sharing.

I kinda like the cleaned up old look, because its all original well except for the pressure foot and new table. i made ones that would fit my uses

Wish I had it. I know where there are three of them in a old harness shop that has been closed for years but they will not even talk to me.

JT, you did a very nice job of cleaning up that beautiful machine! I enjoy seeing the original paint with a patina on old things.
Are you going to put it back on the original stand?
Will this machine work for the fine work on a sheath?
Thanks for sharing.

I can't even imagine the amount of disassembly & removal that was involved. Nice job. It's a good feeling to be able to turn a boat anchor into a functional piece again.
