"My-Chete” in Maple Burl

OAL: 14”; Blade: 8 1/2” Flat Grind; 59RC; 3/16” thick

I’ve noticed that many of the blades being posted recently are large ones – so I decided to join in with a large one of my own. This is a camp knife that I affectionately call “My-Chete” even though it was spelled different on the pics:p. She is a proven chopper that will handle just about anything required of her in a camp situation. When my chain saw decided to take a vacation, I used one exactly like this to drop some 5” diameter Ponderosa Pines whose tops broke off in a heavy snow storm. Does the term “like butter” mean anything to you?

Note: I've posted this piece in a few locations online so the first "I'll take it” gets it based on timestamp. A reply here precedes PM’s and emails.

Wayne,

Man you are killing me. What a great looking knife only if it was Ironwood burl, Mayebe for my 50th b-day

This one looks really familiar Wayne...

Would this be the evolution of the BADK (or whatever it was being called then) that you were working on when I was up there a while ago?

Got a nice hamon on it and that maple burl isn't half bad either ;)

Graham - this design precedes the B@d @$$ Desert Knife by about two years but there are enough similarities that I can see why you would ask.

Thanks for the comments on the hamon and the burl! That's some of the same stabilized burl that I gave you last summer. ;)

The forward lanyard hole and the .1875" flat grind give this knife a true purpose. Even with that beautiful maple burl handle and mosaic pins, this knife is meant to use. What a fantastic job.

mossyhorn - Thanks a ton for that comment. You have got to be in public relations; high end sales; an English major or teacher. Maybe I need to have you start writing my threads from the beginning. That was very kind of you my friend.

And Mossy is right....just cuz it has a little "bling" doesn't mean that it's in any way a 'shelf queen'. That sheath is built to take this baby to the woods!!!

Wayne,
Cut a pepper or cut a small tree this might br one knife with Iron wood in the near future. Maybe for my 50th.

Wayne, my brother! I saw the picture before I saw it was yours and thought "Man that looks like a Jarrett knife".

Really looks great!
