This is a little rough so far. This is my 12" HI AK with my Mora Clipper. I plan on covering the Mora sheath in denim too. The wrap is kind of shabby but I'm going to get some quality para cord and rewrap with a little more care. I'm also going to make a new frog and add a firesteel loop. This should cover most anything and is actually pretty light. I'm going to do something similiar with my 15" in case I go way out in the wildernes. Just thought "yawl" might like looking at some pics. Pretty crude looking compared to a lot of the posts but it's a start.

That's a pretty color combination with the denim and the khuk handle. Reminds me of a lumber jack or a hunter.

Looks pretty good. . . Not pretty, but functional. I was thinking about doing something similar with my cheapie 18" khukri and a 4 inch blade, but I decided to wait 'till I could afford a HI khuk. Then I started moving away from the khukri all together and I'm trying out a Fiskars hatchet. I may end up springing for a Gransfors Bruks hatchet before I get the HI khuk. Either way, its a probably going to be a few months before I can get it. In the meantime I need to come up with a better cover for the Fiskars. Not sure if I'll incorporate the knife with it or not.

Nice combo.

Question for you on your Khuk sheaths. Do they exibit swelling in hot or cold weather? My WWII went to Az. with me for a couple of weeks and the sheath swelled up so bad that once I got the blade out, it wouldn't go back in until evening, when it had cooled off.

I've never experienced that with any of my Khuk sheaths but maybe I'm just lucky.

I've had my khukri get a little hard to get out of the sheath when it's really humid, but never bad enough that I just completely couldn't get it out of or back into the sheath.

Since you said you were in AZ, I'm wondering if the sheath might have actually shrunk from the dryness rather than swelled?

You know, that never occured to me, but you might have something there. Humidity would cause it to swell from the moisture and without moisture, it would shrink.

I think I'm going to find a kydex sheath for it, because I would like to carry it at certain times without having to worry about the sheath.

Hey bro don't fret! Join the club!!! I made the sheath above for the cost of less than 5$ (not including tools). I can't sew for sh!t so I use saddle rivits, which as I understand are very strong (Not to mention extremley easy to use)

Trust me if I can do it. You can definately do it. If I can give you any help or advice feel free to contact me.

when I saw the picture, my first thought was "what the hell are those things". I need to get some of those things.
PS I saw a thread on here about using a vaccum sealer with wet leather to form fit it. It was pretty awsome actually.
