My contest thread for the month of August

This is a cool thing you got going here. I'm trying to do that same. I'm 6'2 around 200 give or take. I'd like to get down a little and lose fat and gain muscle. I'm going to start running my dog in the morning and then coming home and doing core stuff. gonna try to elevate my heart rate for at least 30 minutes a day. Dieting is the hard part, but I think now that I'm out of the dorms and in a house it will be better since I'll cook my own meals. I'll be eating lots of fish and greens. Going to try to cut back on my calorie in-take. I've already dropped sodas since last year, I rarely have one any more. Unless you're still accepting entrants into the contest, I wont post any picture or anything, but I'll follow the threads.

Okay, it took longer than it should have because I tended to cheat my way through July, but today - for the first time in years, I weighed less than 200lbs!!!: thumbup:

I have dropped the weight training for now, and had to back off the bike rides a little bit due to some overtraining issues with my knees. Nevertheless, I have now lost more than 40 lbs! I still have another 20 to go, but this is a major milestone for me.

Sorry. Had to brag. :o

damn. I am sitting here, with a good diet, busting my butt on kettlebells, and I keep not dropping. well, not much anyway. I am getting massive muscle cuts on shoulders and arms but not cutting down enough on the gut.

Christof,

I think we're on opposite programs. IIRC, you are doing heavy strengh training and are consequently building muscle. This new muscle could weigh enough to offset the fat weight you are losing.

Currently, I'm just doing cardio, so I'm not really building much muscle. I've shed the love handles and most of my gut, but there isn't much muscle down there after I lose the weight. My plan is to shift gears to building muscle over the winter when it'll be too wet for much cycling, anyway.

BTW, I'm still not sure what a kettle ball workout is.

kettlebells are also known as crack balls!

youtube is a good place to see what's going on with them, but basically it is ballistic powerlifting with 35 pound cannonballs with handles on them.

I know I'm gainin muscle mass- but I can tell by my pants that I am not dropping enough weight in the gut. I've seen some fat loss elsewhere, though.
