Alright. Sorry I'm late, I was out of town for the 4th.

July 1 weight is 193. I'm not really tracking much else. Weight and what I look and feel like.

I'm back on the wagon with eating right and exercising. 3 days of lifting, 3 days of running, 1 cheat meal a week. I track it all at my blog http://noshtero.blogspot.com

Here's me as of today. I'm NOT happy about this. I was 6 pounds lighter a couple months back but I went on vacation and pissed that away.

Just to make myself feel better, here's me when I started. I'm 60 pounds down from here.

MBTull- could you get some links for data behind blood type diets. Nothing I have taken in my biology career lends itself to that theory and I am the kind that something has to be proven to me before I accept it, but will look into almost anything if the logic is sound. I just cannot see how an anitgen difference can have the effect that she states:confused: (plus the food allergies and constipation comment- Holistic practitioners and I have interesting "discussions" at times).

I will ask my wife, but I will be the first to admit that this is New Age touchy feely stuff. All I can say is that I follow my wife's advice and feel a whole lot better. I will see if I can post some honest torso pix of me. I am 56 y.o. - so I get an age pass. 6'3" 175 lbs. Skinny-fat most of my life.

No offense taken, honest discourse is what this site is about.

For the sake of any children that may happen upon this thread, I am not re-posting my picture until I see some serious improvement. Anyway, I have cut back caloric intake seriously, which I have to do carefully because I apparently have some sugar imbalance despite testing negative for diabetes my whole life. I have cut it back to under 2000/day. It is also especially hard, a jake knows, when you work ridiculous hours and swing shifts, etc. So far, I am at about 258, down from 265-270 when the initial thread was posted. Still got a long way to get to 230 or less.

I know all too well man.... Battling the clock sucks. You seem too be doin well though, keep it up!

BTW...eating nothing but chicken, rice, and veggies bloooows haha

I can't eat like I'm still playing football, so I had to go to the complete other end of the spectrum and start over

Bad as it is, here is my before picture. You can see the date it was taken...

I'm 5'9" or so and 285 lbs. my goal is 185 lbs before I quit losing. As far as changing things in my life. I have a bicycle that I have ridden a few times, going for 5 x week, right now it's about a 4 mile round trip. I also have an ab wheel that I've taken to work I'm going to do one set every hour (only 10-12 reps right now) and when school starts back next month I'm going to be lifting weights several nights each week ( not sure how many nights yet, I have to see how my schedule works out).

Here's to us...
David

Edited to add: Ok you can't see the date on the photo, it was taken June 13th however, I weighed this morning, still 285

lifted weights, stretching for 20min, topped off w/ a 3mi run. Gonna ride mtn bikes today at some point too.

Whats up???

Okay, I've been in one side of this and out the other- from taking charge of my housemates' autistic daughter's diet regimen to some of the housemates, and myself.

I'm NOT sure that there's anything beyond having a plan with the blood type diets. But the way science works is first you look at what happens and then you try to explain and understand it. And for too many people who follow the rules, the blood type diets work.

one thing that science- and especially nutritional science- ignores is systems. Systemic effects. I've growing very aware of these. This is where new age foo foo sounding stuff comes into play- because it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to use the common 19th century scientific worldview that doctors and average laymen are trained to have and understand systemic effects.

So, I sleep in a place with cats, I have an asthma attack. 50/50 I may end up in the ER breathing O2. I stop eating processed foods- and I mean to the level of pre ground flour, and it GOES AWAY. Turns out I do have trouble with wheat and most grains, even fresh ground. But there's an idea that half or more of the "allergies" and celiac disease cases and such can be just systemic effects of combinations of toxins that are common in prepared foods.

I got bad again for a while, but the past 3 weeks on the paleo/atkins (old school natural food 1970s atkins) and my skin rashes are leaving, my allergies all around are minimal......

new age foo foo?

I posted some pics in the other thread. Weight as of yesterday was 229 lbs. The wife and I are doing a 3 day, low calorie diet to shed 10 lbs. I did it once during my senior year of high school to cut weight for wrestling and it did work, without sacrificing muscle mass. It will be interesting to see if it works again, fast forward 12 years.

We're also trying to get back into a regular routine at the gym. Going to school part time and having a baby has made it difficult, but I'm taking the summer off from school, which should free up a considerable amount of time. I like RescueRiley's workout plan and might do something similar in addition to some interval training.

no way Christof.... I totally believe in a natural diet, and the harm assoc with processed foods. Myself, and my family eat very organic, natural whole foods 95% of the time. If theres a natural remedy, we will totally try it before taking, or giving a pill. And Tina and I are both in the medical field!

Also note that things like holism that lack stringent regulation are fertile ground for both real progressive development and quacks.

for my own benefit, I'd like to say that after 2 weeks of the diet, I was flat. totally flast, no weight loss, no measurement changes, and that included a week of jogging being added in. July 1st i started the improved diet, limiting diet soda and coffee and no food after 22:00. I also started interval kettlebell (dumbbell in my case) workouts. this morning I'm down 3 pounds. rock.

kettleballs rule. A smoke your ass workout fo sho.

Im gonna get back into some climbin, a great workout too, that I havent done for awhile. :o

my abs. my poor abs. who thought swinging 26 pound crackballs around playfully would make your abs die?

Hey guys- Just because it's so appropriate to the WSS philosophy, I thought I'd share a link- totally non commercial- you don't have to buy the koolaid. My brother in law is doing this program started by a guy who wanted crackling abs:

shovelglove.com

now, is this WSS or what?

Ok I'll play. Here is the only recent shirtless pick I have of myself. It was taken last week. I am 5'8" tall and weigh 164lbs

Since I have been back from that vacation and my wife and daughter are still away, I decided to do a lil excercizing. I have been doing about 6-15 12 ounce curls of my favorite Ales every night with the occassional 4 once quick curl of Cuervo.

My diet has consisted of pizza, burgers, hot dogs, ravioli, steak, rice, yankee doodles, chips ahoy, and the occassional rootbeer float. I did slip up and eat yellowfin Tuna steak 2 nights ago though.:o

I'm not sure how long I can keep this diet up, but I will milk it, I mean suffer through it as long as I can; since you guys are also sacrificing!

Wish me luck,

Tony

:D

Feel free to shut the hell up there Tony :)

I smelled pizza the other day and I think I gained a half pound.

Hey! Great thread! I don't have any pics to post yet, but as of yesterday (my 15th wedding anniversary) I'm taking on a new lifestyle. For starters I going to stick to walking and getting rid of the junk food.

Whoever found the neat tracker utility, thanks! I like it! :D

Ok Here's my work out for the month of July
I'm not participating but will vampire off your collective motivation to help get myself into better shape I'll be designing and posting a workout for myself everymonth as we go.. feel free to use it if you like but consult a physican and a lic. trainer if you have any questions.
THis work out is done for time.. which means I try to complete it in as little time as possible, you don't have to complete all reps in one burst, but keep in mind that it resting will cut into your o/a time. if I can breeze through all reps than I tailor them to make them harder
Warmp up:
25 pullups
50 Jump squats
50 pushps ( tailored to mak emore difficult)
50 v-ups
50 dips (using bars not bench dips)
50 dumbell front swings (25 each arm using a 40 lb dumbell)
25 chinups.
warm down and stretch when done.
my record time is 27 minutes but I average around 30 min 3x a week videos of less common excercises are posted below.

What the pic doesnt show is Tony is only 3ft tall, so 165 makes him morbidly obese. (5'8" my ass)

Really wish I could join this competition, but with places like Taco Bell around me (especially now that they offered that new bacon potato cheesy goodness thing :p) I can't find enough motivation . It's really quite sad. Luckily, as of yet I don't show it all that much (well, atleast from the outside).

Anyways, it's great what you guys are doing, and especially this great competition that Dr. Williams has set up  I'll be following everyone's progress and I wish everyone the best of luck
