My CRK Collection

jki

Is it one of 25 large Sebenzas made for the Knifemaker's Guild 25th anniversary? Or one of 25 small?

Heyuchun, all 25 large and 25 small Sebenzas were made for the Knifemaker's Guild 25th Anniversary. These knives were all numbered and had sublime low-contrast ladder damascus blades by Daryl Meier, and an engraved pattern of stars and stripes. If you do a search on the Knifemaker's Guild Sebenza, you should be able to find a pic of one. I also seem to recall that there were two sizes of the Guild Medallion, with the larger size going into the large Sebenza (but I could be mistaken here as I seem to be losing my mind lately.) I will dig mine out next week and verify.

I see.
But, this seb isn't made for the Knifemaker's Guild 25th Anniversary, is it?

What is the ralation between them?

Heyuchun, I don't believe that this one pictured is one of the 50 pieces made for the 25th Anniversary; it is not damascus, serialized, or engraved with the stars/stripes design. However, as someone posted above, there were a few "extra" medallions floating around. I think that Anne Reeve posted a long time ago (maybe in the archives) that Guild members were allowed to purchase as many medallions as they wanted, and apparently Chris put a few of the extra medallions into Sebenzas. So in reality, a few Sebenzas such as the one pictured are even rarer than the "official" Guild Sebenza edition!

Thanks!
This is a interesting one, isn't it?
My friend have a large Guild Sebenza, he want got a small one.

I verified that the small Guild Sebenza does in fact use a smaller version of the 25th Anniversary Knifemaker's Guild medallion. Also, the damascus is stainless ladder pattern by AJ Hubbard, not by Daryl Meier as I stated previously. Both large and small are marked with a "P".

Not only do I enjoy looking at this extraordinary collection, but I also have a legit question: :)

James, what difference do you see between the SA Ti folder, the Hs, and the Ps?

I know I owe you some pictures, but there are a few obvious things. The handle slabs on the SA and H models are thicker, and neither has a locating hole on the non-locking side. All three have a similar thumb stud, a silver cone with stirations on one side. The lock bar on the SA is is cut shorter and wider than the other two knives, and the CR logo and number are located in the center of the handle in large script.

Zombie thread...but its totally worth coming back. Thats well over 20K worth of CRK products there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VERY VERY nice collection!

James, My H has no clip. Are the SAs also without a clip? I didn't check out the Ps to see if they came with a clip. James, BTW, IMO 20 grand is a very conservative estimate for your collection. The protos and the custom pieces really enhance the value. I started collecting CRKs in 1987 because I liked the concept of the fixed blades. And then came the Sebenzas. All of my CRKs are queens. I think I cut a piece of string once with my one H. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Not to be rude, but what would you ballpark the value of that collection to be? Some of those I've never even seen or heard of before. VERY impressive!

Dang, if I had to do a very quick ball park, I'm gonna say at least over $20000. Someone wanna correct me?

The SA is clip less, as are the H and numbered P models. They added the clip during the P run, so some have a clip.

I try not to think about what I have invested in my collection. Most of the rarer pieces were bought before I bought a home and started a family.

I bet I could grab 5 of those knives and exceed 20k.

Where do you live again, James?

Dang. I figured some of them were easily $1000+, but I couldn't fathom a collection worth more than a car...

Let's play a game! Who ever can get closest to the actual dollar amount of the collection gets one free knife from the group? :D
