Hello again bladeforums!
I am here to tell you what I currently edc nearly everyday and ask for
Any recommendations that you have as well.

First of I am a 16 year old male. And that in my area it is very very uncommon for
A boy or anyone to carry any type of edc gear. And quite difficult because I go to school during the week
And it is illegal for me to carry a knife on school grounds. ( just giving you guys some background facts)
Also I am very busy with other activities so I do not have time to work which prevents me from buying any expensive gear for now.
So my edc:
Knife-I carry either a benchmade dejavoo or a griptillian( 90% of the time the dejavoo)
Light- sadly I only have one light and it is very useful but old and doesn't have a pocket clip
It is the novatac storm.
Yes I know that this is probably such a lame edc compared to most of yours but I am a teenager and I don't have. Need for many of the other edc items people carry but not just that I usually wear shorts or workout shorts like basketball shorts.
So my question to you guys is what knife do you recommend I get based on my situation? I love my djvoo but it is to big and can look very intimidating to my peers. I have been considering the spyderco delica and the kershaw clash. Also any light recommendations? I have heard quite abit about the preon 2 and streamlight flashlights.
Please any suggestions would be very appreciated!!
I don't want to give up carrying a knife and light!
And I apologise for my post being abit disorganised and sounds rushed but i am just really trying to get it out fast!

Don't worry about being intimidting, my friend. You're two years older than I, and I carry this monster.

;)

That looks like a absolute beast! Haha what's the length on that thing? My dejavoo is about 9 inches.

Sounds like a pretty good set up so far. I'm jealous of the Dejavoo though. As for your flashlight, I'd reccomend the mag-lite solitaire. $6 and has served me well.

I'm 15, and one of my main edc's is the dlc kershaw jyd, which is a big knife. Other than dirty looks no one has ever confronted me.

That's not lame at all (I'd love to have a dejavoo haha). 99 percent of the time my EDC is either a BM griptilian or ZT 0801, Sharpwerks pry buddy, wallet, and a hinderer investigator pen. I've been at this knife thing for two years and still don't have a crazy impressive collection (not to say I'm not grateful for the knives/gear I do have). a delica would be good and a mini griptilian would also make a nice EDC...keep at it, this is a fun hobbie! Oh, and I should mention I'm fourteen and my name is Kirby. :)

No way man. I have a Solitaire and it is not bright at all. I use a Streamlight Nano and that thing is really bright for it's size, and it's relatively in the same price range :)

As far as a knife goes you have what would be considered more high end but its about personal preference more than anything, I would definately reccomend a delica though, it is (in my opinion) the best small edc knife ever and you can get all the colors (except orange and pink is more $, but im sure you dont want pink anyways) at bentoboxshop.com for around $54 or so which is a great price for what you are getting. As far as lights go I always carry a preon 2 but if thats a bit expensive ($40 for a penligh kind of is, but its worth it) theres several streamlight offerings that are much cheaper but still great. Of course you can always watch reviews on youtube, thats where I get alot of my info, pretty much every channel in the "tactical community" is good. Hope this helps

Blade length is 3.82 inches, overall is 8.70 inches and comes in at a whopping 7.70 ounces!

But the blade is really thick and so are the handles so it's a real beast.

My favorite flashlight brands are Fenix and Zebralight, you might take a look at them, I think the Delica would be an excellent choice, a PM2 if you can find one or a Native 5

Kershaw Cryo 1555, in any of the three offerings.

For the size/price, it's really hard to beat a Preon 2. I'm looking to get something larger now, but I'll still always carry my P2; it's small and light enough (even more so with the energizer ultimate Li AAA's I run in mine) that it disappears in the pocket; and that's in dress pants and dress shorts, not some huge cargo pockets.

I really want the preon 2 but one thing I keep hearing is how it turns on all the time in pocket. Is that true that the cap is to sensitive? What do you think?
Also I was considering the streamlight stylus pro

I don't think I've ever had that problem of if turning on in my pocket. If you're really worried about it, run it with a flat tail cap and twist the head for on/off (like the Preon 1).

For the light I would recommend a Preon one if you are going for small and lightweight, it is one of my first choices because I do not like to carry a heavy edc especially a light. The Benchmade grip or mini grip is always a good option, but I also love my Delica 4 (Custom Skull G10 Handles). I have a Clash too and you can not quite compare that to a Delica because the Clash is bigger, heavier, and chunkier overall, however it is half the price of the Delica.

why would you need anything more than a small folding pocket knife at your age?

Does it not get dark outside for 16 year olds? I don't understand how age effects what one might EDC?

Great quality EDC that doesn't look intimidating... Hmm... two that I have personally owned and found excellent, are the benchmade triade (in safety orange, it looks even less intimidating) and the Spyderco Caly 3.5..

I'm 18, by the way. Glad to see some other young guys on here who have good heads on their shoulders!

i wasn't talking about the flashlight. the fact that young teens are carrying big quick action knives is disturbing. other than flicking and cutting a piece of thread hanging from your clothes, there's no need to carry anything else other than a swiss army knife. maybe it's the coolness factor.

"big quick action knife"?
First of all I carry my knife to be prepared for multiple scenarios.
I use my knife very often to cut things and open boxes and what not.
I think you are a little off by saying for me to carry a Swiss Army knife!
It would not hold up as a very good edc knife it is a useful multitool but not a edc knife.
Why are you disturbed by this? I am not looking for someone to stab on the streets..
My knives I carry are not just for cutting things though. I do feel quite secure knowing that I have a blade that had te ability to aid me in a dangerous encounter.
I am not sure why you think my age really affects this. I am not a small child that can not fully think for himself.
By the way i am experienced in martial art forms as well. 7 years of jiu jitsu as well as training in krav maga.
Please elaborate on your side if you would.
