I'd like to do this somehow and I think it's possible. Anyway-here it is.

Take a S90V millie blade, and stonewash it
Have someone-maybe STR- make a TI framelock for it
anodize the TI framelock purple
blued ti back spacer
blued ti clip

So, Whatcha Think?

str can do the frame lock for sure, i don't know if he does anodizing or colored clips.

i would prefer a bb finish over the stonewash.

how does one stonewash a blade?

atonewashing is basically tumbling the blade with pieces of ceramic i read somewhere- im sure i can find someone-maybe balibalistic-who can the anodizing-stonewash is another question-hopefully apyderco would be so kind to let me just buy the S90V blade

Am sure there's someone out there who could do the stonewash, and, as has been stated STR can probably do the ti framelock, backspacer and clip. Know he's done blue anodizing on ti, not sure about purple, but if he can't he can probably point you to someone who can. However, I really doubt Spyderco would sell you just the blade, it's not something they do. Think you'll have to either pony up for the whole knife or drop the idea.

S**t-and i'm looking for an S90V blade-S**t...well, maybe the bay has some S90V millies for cheap-well see-i think im gonna go through with it

In November Spyderco had the SFO sale where they sold factory seconds. S90V Millies went for $40.

Mine would have to be waved and tip up (duh). Double Ti slabs... only way to go.

oh, of course-i wouldnt do the strider thing and only do one side TI-thats just gay-plus, I don't buy-or imitate strider's designs-don't like the guy

I'd do tip up too

Hi Nate,

The Military blade is hand polished on each surface. Stone washing (coarse tumbling) would undo all of the hand work on the blade. It would not be considered an improvement to the finish, in my opinion..

Tumbling would also ruin the geometry of the lock ramp unless it's carefully protected from the tumbling. (a note to whom ever might try to tumble the blade).

The prices at the factory sale for 2nds are very low. Product is sold at a loss to service our local community.

Mr Glesser,is the "sale",a once a year event?. Is it always in November.Thanks.

Sal, I remember when you sent me 5 Iraqi freedom natives back in 03. Thanks again. You care.

Making a frame lock fit that blade is not a problem. Been there done that. Anodizing it any of the colors that can be achieved from 9 volts to 110 volts with my DC power source is not a problem either. I don't do stone tumbling finishes. Don't really like them all that much. I am not sure where you could have that done but you'd want to do that first because the first thing I'd have to do upon receiving the blade would be to redo the lock contact if I even have a set up to fit the original geometry that Spyderco uses. I do know I can make it work but it would never be one you could put back together as it came from factory once I had to clean up the lock contact. I don't think you want a tumbled finish on your contact but it would be tumbled and smooth like the rest of the blade when done.

Obviously all the blade work would have to be done first because if you made the lock first you'd have a blade that didn't fit it after you redid the contact.

My real problem currently is that I'm busy. I've got more on the bench than I'm comfortable with as it is so if you got one to me today in the mail I'd be late Feb early March before I even got to it probably. Just FYI.
