My Dad's old knife.. What do you call it?

I would call it my favorite knife, special and my son’s knife to be-one day

The strap doesn't do much... It's more of a good friction fit into the sheath.

My guess on the wood would be maple too. But maple thats been torched and dyed/stained with leather dye. Doubt it's ironwood. I work a lot with ironwood. Not seeing it here.

How thick is the blade? Great piece knowing it belonged to your dad.
