My cousin Jim succumbed to heroin five years ago this spring. It is hard to see anyone go like that, but harder still when you saw them first as a helpless infant and helped raise them. All life is a blessing, all life has purpose.

My condolences, sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers sent out, may she be at peace.

Jules

Many thanks my friends. This is the second child I've lost and it's sure as hell no picnic. My youngest son was killed several years ago on a 1,000 Kawasaki, ran into the back of a parked station wagon doing over a 100 mph and the impact moved it 20 some feet ahead. At least he didn't feel anything, not only because of the speed but the fact that he had way, way, over the legal limit of alcohol in his system but then he was always a wild child.:(

I finally talked with Dallas tonight and got the details about Stella. Some time ago Stella had a stroke due to a severely blocked right carotid artery that disabled 40% of her functions, speech and motor skills and after a bout in the hospital was put in a nursing home after undergoing a surgery to fix her left carotid artery. A couple of weeks ago Stella had another stroke that disabled even more of her functions. Dallas said that using the 40% as a 100% baseline that Stella lost 60% of that so there wasn't much left of her mind at all. Dallas also said something about her entire frontal cortex and her throat had finally been blocked because of blood loss to that area if I heard and understood correctly. Thankfully her last days was spent pretty much in a coma so she wasn't much aware, if at all, of what was going on.
Stella's service is going to be Friday at 7:00 p.m. EST from what I understand and she's going to be cremated so as to not take up anymore space no doubt because of what I told her one Christmas about my wishes as Stella was a real daddy's girl.
I was offered a round trip plane ticket but I'm in no shape to go so come Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. our time we'll light some Sage and Cedar in remembrance....
There's a whole lot more about the shenanigans Stella went through before and during the time she had the 2nd stroke but it's best left untold but with that I'm pretty sure Stella's mind has been going for quite a little while now.
I was very angry with her over some of the stuff she pulled but I'm pretty sure now she couldn't help it.

Thanks again my friends.

Yvsa

Edit:
Forgot to add that there was no autopsy done. The condition of Stella's brain was determined from an MRI she had not long ago....

Yvsa,

You and your daughter are in my thoughts from time to time, and as I was passing by I saw the news. You are a kindred spirit: as Kismet says, Be kind to yourself.

Phil
