I asked my daughter, Iris, what she wanted as a high school graduation gift, and she said she would like a pocket knife. She had mentioned she liked the CRKT Eros, and I thought the new stainless steel model would make a great canvas for a custom engraving.

David Sheehan did the engraving for me. He was very patient with a first-time engraving client. For once in my life I planned ahead, so I have been holding the knife since March. It has been very hard keeping a secret. I had David engrave irises to match my daughter's name.

Graduation was yesterday. The knife was a big surprise, and she has been carrying it ever since. I am so glad she likes it.

Here is the image I sent to the engraver. You can see what a great job he did adapting my idea to something that would read well when engraved.

Pretty cool man, sounds like a great kid. I wish my son and daughter were into knives a little more. You may have just started something. Tell her congrats!

Isn't it fun being a dad, congratulations are in order for your daughter.
Well done dad!!!!

Very nice. You can't go wrong making something ordinary something memorable. You have a beautiful family.

Awesome loving parents, beautiful graduation gift (the 3 Iris flowers on the scale are fitting)...Congratulations, Iris!

Nice engraving! Sounds like you raised a great kid. Can't wait until I can gift my son a knife.

Beautiful knife! I have always appreciated knives with even the slightest significance. Makes it just that much more special to carry.

Other manufacturers could stand to take a cue from CRKT and leave a little real estate on their knives for engraving like this. It really turned out nice.

Well done, that is a very thoughtful present. Now she just needs 20 or so more :D

Well, that's enough for an EDC rotation anyway.
