What a day. I get home from work and there is a message from Tony Bose.
I think I got on his waiting list in 1998. A new doctor's knife is getting started in a couple of days. :D.

I was real picky with him when he asked me how I wanted it ;).

"Does not matter to me Tony, just make it like you want to make it. I'm sure I'll be happy."

That's great news, I'll look forward to hearing about the knife when you get it.

Thanks guys. I don't really mean to bragg, but if there was a place to get excited about a knife this was it. ;)

Yesssirreee!

Congrats, Gus. Now the clock is running just a tad slower for you...! ;)

Geeeeez Gus, is it still your Birthday?
Only since '98 huh?
There's not a doubt in my mind this is going to be one very special knife.
Congratz!

Hmmm. If you ordered in '98 and he's starting it now, that means I'm only 5 years away from getting my next knife from him.

Gus, congrats. You will love it. I'm guessing a collector with your experience already has a Bose or two.

Is Tony or Reese taking orders by any chance?
I have not asked recently Dylan, but Tony was in '98 :D. Maybe Fasteddie knows.

I am guessing that they do and that a wait for one of Reeses' won't be as long as one from Tony, but nither will be short waits. Bose's also show up from time to time with dealers, but they get snapped up quickly. Most of the traffic I hear of passes hands between collectors/friends.

However long the wait is, I'm sure it will be worth it. How can I get in contact with Tony or Reese? E-mail? Phone number?

Dylan,

Sent you an email (to your BF address) with info.

A great resource for makers is the list on Knife Forums under the slipjoint forums. They have a great list over there as well as great people.

The number on that list seems to be wrong, unless I'm doing something wrong. Wouldn't you just dial the number just as it is written? A lady answered BOTH times I called. First I asked for Mr. Bose, then I asked for Tony, neither one of them lives there :D

I Guess that makes you a Patient Bastid, cause though I love customs, I can't see myself waitin' on nobody that long, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! Especially now that the wait is almost over.

Once the wait gets much beyond a year, I tend to look at other options.

Hooray, placed an order with Tony for a Stockman and Congress whittler today. Now if only I could accelerate time...

Congrats. How long did he say it would be? Did he school you in traditional knives like he does to most callers?
