After a recent post by Adam a few weeks back I had to go check out his updated website and looked at all the great pics of him and is lovely wife Haley... and of course all the great knives they had posted. I was also fortunate enough to make some extra money on the side by selling one of my fine watches...

I haven't been able to take this Chopper out for a lot of use as of yet, but I can tell you that this knife has a fantastic fit and finish. A fantastic Zero Convex Edge and the handle just molds to your hand. The sheath is also quite nice (even though Adam is modest at describing it). Has a unique belt loop attachment to allow you to carry the blade higher or lower on the belt by simply rotating the leather keepers/belt loops for the desired carry location. Pics should clarify this up a bit.

Specs as per Adams (and Haley's) website http://www.alaskablades.com/

Boreal Chopper
"Adventure Finish"
Blade - 10 5/8" x 2 1/2" X 5/8" thick
Steel - W2
Handle - Curly Walnut
Fittings - Stainless
OAL 15 7/8"

I can't wait to put this one to good use, but until that time here are a few pics to show this bad-boy off.

Trying to show the contours of the handle in these pics:

The clip on this one is not sharp but sharp enough to use in a smash type hit and yet not cut your hand if you're using your extra hand on a push cut.

Here are a couple over-all pics of knife and sheath:

always thought this Desrosiers fellow had a great eye for lines and proportions.
That he actually uses knives really shows in his designs.
Great score, from one of my favs:thumbup:

I see a strong Jason Knight influence.... look at the wedding photos on their blog ... ;)

What a great score !
Thanks a lot for the pictures, Adam's work is too rare here !

Really like the lines and the nicely contoured handle,
gorgeous CW and it looks like it feels great.
Congrats on a solid striking piece !

That seems pretty dog-gone thick to me. Maybe a "typo" ?

Typo or not, it is a really nice piece and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Robert

Nope... No typo. She's a Big'n, but has a nice taper towards the tip and also a nice high grind w an Amazingly sharp Zero Convex Edge. Almost like a giant razor! :)

NEVER a bad thing!:)
And I am sure that one could see a Desrosiers influence on certain Knight knives as well.

Redsnake - you got a super rig there! I'm a fan of Adam's burly chopper blades, and especially of his handles. A chopper needs an easy to grip handle - heck, any knife needs the same thing - but especially a hard using blade. Here's ours:

Bringing this one back up as I finally got to use this bad-boy this past weekend. I couldn't take it long... with 110 degree heat index and me sweating like a beast... I pruned some of the low-hanging branches off my yards Pecan Trees. They are a pain in the eyes to mow under if they get too low... so my neighbors get to see me chopping them each year... :D

This great blade went threw the 3/4" to 2" branches w/ease... No damage at all to the edge. Granted these branches are not hard and dry... but it was still a decent test and was fun (minus the AWFUL heat... )

Here she is sticking in the limbs

Update much appreciated, thanks for the pictures.
What a cool knife, I can't wait for my turn to come...

Great looking chopper...
Is that poison ivy in frame 12...?

Thanks... might not show up on the pics but the Clip is forged into shape (for the most part) too. This thing chops great and is also light and fast in the hand... similar to a big fighter. The blade taper and overall balance is spot on!!
