Minor update. I collected temperature data on my 2nd hardening run. It takes about 70 minutes to get up to 800 C and about as long to cool down to tempering temperature. The outside doesn't get all that warm. The controversial heat shrink tubing in the wiring box hasn't shrunk (yet).
