My DogFather is dead!!!

Why not use an axe for chopping trees? That's what they are made for, so I've heard.

If you ever open a trail full of falling trees, 2 to 4 inch in diameter hanging overhead you will realize that an axe is useless and dangerous...thank's for the comment anyway...

Oh, okay. In that case, I'd have had my handy dandy trusty ol' chainsaw to buuzzzz buuzzzz buuzzzz through that stuff and been quickly at the cabin pounding down a beer or two ! :D

Do you usually take a chainsaw on a 15km hike?? Talk about cumbersome! Who made your sheath for that? :D ...Think I'd rather have a big chopper of a knife on my hip for a long hike. ;) That way ya got 2 hands for beer drinkin'!

This is a good example of why we can't possibly forsee all possible uses of a knife or cutting tool. I'm saving this as an example for the "why do you need a big knife" crowd.
