My Douk Douk is perfect example of HEAVY pull, lol!...

The heavy pull is one of my favorite things about it. I absolutely hate wimpy backsprings :p It does ease off a bit with time.

Being the Personal Fitness Instructor that I am, maybe I will start recommending people buy themselves a Douk Douk as a means to work up their fingers/hand strength... lol! ;-)

The small Douk-Douk and K55 lockback were the first European knives I bought when I got into this hobby. I had my Opinel No. 8 already which was bought as a curiosity and for camping, but that was before I found this forum.
Both the Douk-Douk and Cat go for a ride in my pockets regularly, though I've found the Cat slips nicely in the side pocket of my carpenter jeans. A short lanyard retrieves it quickly to work and then back into the pocket, usually before anyone can remark about the large knife I just used. :D Since the Douk-Douk requires a little more effort to open, it usually gets more attention. People remark on the scimitar blade shape and funny name more than anything else though.

One of my Scouts asked to use my Douk-Douk once, it was pretty interesting to watch him try to open it, after he was used to using one handers. I showed him how to close it, so I didn't have an angry parent with a Scout missing a piece of finger  I'd put one into the Troop Christmas grab bag but they are over the price limit, so more Opinels this year! (and maybe an ebony No. 8 and a Squirrel for me!)

Yeah, being that the k55k and douk douk are so reasonably priced, whether one collects or uses, one may as well get both and call it a day! :-)
