My dream knife, who would want this poll?

If you would buy this knife, then reply with "I would buy this knife"

1# What I want is very simple, I just want the Delica with a blade shape of the Para-Military 2. The Para-Military 2 has a very pointy tip. I do not use my Delica for hard use, I use it for opening boxes, cutting tape/rope/straps, food, splenter removal. I don't need a super strong tip, I don't plan on stabbing of splitting wood. And by the way, same steel VG-10 with a street value of $60, retail $99-110, because I'm not paying an extra $30-$40 for a different tip.

Delicas blade length 2.875 inches
Para-military 2 blade length is 4 inches. Edit: I found 3.438 inches in other places.
Edit: I want the Blade length to be 2.875, and the thickness to be 0.98 inches like the Delica. Everything basically the same, the thumb ramp and all(Unless they want to make it a touch deeper gimping that is =)

Doubt Sypderco will change it. They've positioned the Delica as a knife for average users and, in general, those folks prefer a stronger tip. OTOH, it should be fairly easy for you to find someone capable of grinding the spine of your Delica to achieve what you want. I've seen examples of it before. Sometimes, in order to get what we want, we must pay the "my way tax".

Nope, the Para is already perfect :)

Yeah, I might end up just getting that one. I notice that BBS is the only player in town selling a blue one. WTF is with this $180 price tag. The whole effing world knows that knife looks better in blue than the black. Why not due the same damn thing with the colors as they did with the Delica and Endura? I bet money that unless they have already stated outright that they will not produce different colors, that they will be doing this soon at a cheaper price. And holly crap, why not VG-10 steel for less cost?

Probably no one agrees with me on my views, but I'll have to save for this paramilitary.

The blue PM2 is a sprint run with M390 steel, so you are going to pay a premium due to the limited availability and for the the high-end steel. As for the vg-10, it is a Japanese- made steel that is not exported out of Japan. What this means is that if you want to use vg-10 steel, the knife has to be made in Japan. The PM2 is made in the USA.

take care.

I bet sales would be just as good if not way better if they treated it like it was a more classic alternative to the Endura or Delica.

Put a standard lock-back on it, VG-10 steel, 4 different colors, and sell that bad boy for the same price as the Endura and their sales would go through the roof. I'm fairly certain it wouldn't cost not one dime more than the Endura or Delica would too, so their profit margin would be just fine.

the blue PM2 is a dealer exclusive and its $180 because bbs knows ppl will pay it not because of premium steel and limited availability. The orange pm2 was $117 shipped if you got in on the pre order, but that wasn't from bendoverboxshop

If you patient, you can find Delica3, which has pointed tip. Or just get Cento3

Oh man, I hate that look. I probably just shell out the $100 for the black version.

I wonder how much you are willing to bet. Spyderco OTOH, will be gambling quite a lot more by changing and merging two of their most popular models.

You must be joking. A near duplicate knife, with all the colors everyone wants, with very similar durability rating. How would that not sell? And based on the hype I'm think it would be the best time to do it now.

I agree they should do the Para2 with the sprint colors without the sprint steels and price.
I would have a Blue PM2 in a heartbeat.
But as far as changing the steel up and the lock mechanism... it wouldn't be a PM2 then. It would just be a suped up Delica/Endura.

Now maybe if they did it with colored G-10 scales, and keep everything the same but change the steel to VG-10....
I mean, I would buy it, and it would be cheaper.
But they should probably just keep it the way it is. And they probably will. But I vote for colored scales lol.

I wouldn't buy it...

I would buy a 3" Military style blade with a SS frame lock (SS to keep cost down), venom green or orange G10 scale, and VG 10 blade steel in a heartbeat.

Ok, are you willing to put out around $50K for 600 pieces? That's how much Spyderco has to gamble for any production run. Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?

Just because you think something is so, doesn't necessarily mean it's so. ;)

Your funny, you are going off the deep end Sir. If I worked at Spyderco I would do it. Even the guys at Spyderco don't risk their own money. 50k for 600 pieces, sounds great. $50,000 divided by 600 equals $83.34. I am relatively certain that your numbers are off there chippo. An Endura cost $60 street value, so I doubt Spyderco is making them for $83.34.........The most they would cost is around $50 to make. I would assume even less than that.

P.s. I made a broad comment, don't try and make up numbers just to prove your point. If I worked at Spyderco, I would risk the capital if it cost $50 or less to make. I would put a Retail value of $100 and a street value of $65. If you wanna keep going with this argument you can, but seriously it just sounds like you are upset that Spyderco is making more in the first place.

Edit: fr bad grammar.

why don't you just get an "R" or a PM2? There's so many choices already available. Native?

I actually am lol. He's fuming on an already dead argument. I'm saving for the PM2 black. What is an R? Resilience?

??? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Spyderco-quot-R-quot-Nishijin-Sprint-Reduced ??????

If the traction sucks, then I won't get it. I cut food all the time, and my hands get wet at work. So I want something with high traction. My Delica is super high traction, and cost less. Hoping the PM2 has adequate traction.

Edit: I cut food with my blade, and use my blade at work. And yes I clean it all the time.
