My EDC survival kit

That kit is very well thought out I am amazed at how complete it is and the amount of gear you have in there.

Nice pouch! Nicer kit!!

I'd slip some more duct tape in there myself too, like The Gov mentioned.
I've done a few feet folded flat, wrapped around some wax paper, got one of those in my survival tin.
I think you can buy little ready made strips like that from Survival Resources.

I have 4 feet worth in there so far. I might be able to add a little more by wrapping some around my lighters and a few other things.

oh...you do have some. I didn't see it, and was too lazy to read the list. ;)

Very well Made up Great work,I've got one(small one's In each car) and one sm.tin with me all the time.

If you don't already have one a bandanna would be a useful addition.

The kit looks well thought out and contains some nice quality gear.

Gorilla Tape is even better and don't worry about ordering it from a special source where you pay out the ass for regular duct tape. Get a heavy duty plastic membership card from some business and wrap some Gorilla Tape over that, then some braided nylon fishing line, then some brass snare wire. You also have the card under it all for loiding certain locks or cutting it into an L for reverse bevel latches. :)

I'm new here so try to forgive my lack of understanding. I'm not trying to provoke, I am just curious.

As a nurse, I always carry an extensive first aid kit in my car for emergencies. This is intended to be used to help myself or others in case of emergency. What I am not understanding is just what are you trying to be ready for with all that other gear?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,

What are you referring to, specifically? The sutures? That's the only thing I would replace. I would use 3M Brand Name Steri-Strips and possibly a vial of DermaBond and a foil packet of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly for use with the DermaBond and for firestarting as well.

I am having a bad moment. :D Are you referring to the rest of the survival gear like the ability to signal and start a fire, etc.?

I would like to have one:

For living in a semi-rural area (where you often drive through thick secluded forests)
For day hikes (a simple thing to throw in a pack)
for extended hikes (last resort kit for things you may not have planned on)
even for car camping (as you may go hiking or forget to bring something)

It is just nice to have those capabilities -and this kit looks very portable. For an urban area, the kit would probably be different.

I agree about the first aid kit. I have a decent one that I put together that stays in my car.

If you would like, I am sure we would all love to see what kind of first aid you have in your kit -since we are always trying to improve ours (survival, first aid, or otherwise)

Don,
The Steri-strips and Demabond are a great idea, I've been looking at those for a while now. I might just stick them in there. Thanks guys!

333rm, That's a sweet setup! Where did you get the little "ziplock" type bags from?

I have found the little baggies in the "arts and crafts" section of walmart -where they have fabrics and buttons and things. They are very inexpensive.

The 2 larger ones with the medical stuff are Aloksaks they can be found at many outdoors / survival sites. The other smaller "ziplock" type bags I got from bepreparetosurvive.com.

Thanks for that overview of your kit. I have wanted to make one up for myself and this will be a huge help.

Very good kit. The only changes I would make would be an upgrade to your compass and possible a folding safety blanket.

I do have both of those in my Bug Out Bag, which has many more items. It goes with me every time I leave the house and follows me in when i get back home.
