My EDC Today And Why

The Executive is my most carried and most used EDC I've owned to date (going back to the 70's where the Classic filled that role. I was often carrying a 110 in those days but moved on to a 501 Squier by 1980. The Executive came along after carrying the Ambassador (74mm) for an upgrade to the Classic. Fortunately, as is my way, I bought a few backups of those 74mm knives which turns out to be a good thing as Victorinox dropped them from their line. A tragedy IMO. Instead of the knid of flashlight you carry, I keep a Nightcore Tube V2 on my keyring. I have it but never seem to have need for it.

Mostly use the light reading menus in dimly lit restaurants or looking for stuff around the house at night.
Always have the Exec with me when out.

Couldn't you use your phone's flashlight for menus or don't you have a so-called smart phone? Around the house, I have flashlights in every room but I normally turn on the light when looking for something. ;)

Victorinox Compact fits the bill. Minor home repairs and other daily tasks. I've given over to Victorinox for good.

For me I carry the same thing everyday. Whether at work or at home, with the one exception of I don't carry my glock to work. If im not at work, the glocks on me. In my front left pocket is a phone, notepad, fountain pen and 18650 size Fenix flashlight. Right pocket is a leatherman surge in it and a 3-3.5" knife clipped on it. Back pocket is a wallet and always have a watch on too.

I dislike phone lights immensely. Too bright. I use lowest output in a restaurant.
Mostly I use it in the garage cupboards looking for something.
If you always just turn lights on around the house, you're not a flashaholic. We generally take any opportunity to use a flashlight.

Thanks for the fantastic post!

Nutnfancy got me into EDC and I carry a Leatherman juice s2 daily and keep a wave and fixed blade in my laptop bag.

I know you guys, I used to hang out on the candle power forums. I have lights everywhere but use the right tool for the job. As I get older, I find I like my Streamlight ProTac 90X best. One at my bedside, one in the rig. Works very well with a firearm without a light (or when you don't want to engage your gunlight). I also like the little OLight I3T EOS. That's also on my bedside table. Great clip for a ball cap if you need hands free.

Also great for hunting white walls.

I typically EDC whatever folder I feel like and save the tools for my key ring to spread the weight out. Those leathermans are awesome tools but they’re heavy!

Which is why a lot of guys who don't need to do serious work everyday with a mult-tool carry some variety of SAK with their main blade (like me). Still, I own three multi-tools and am a sucker for the gadgetry of them, especially the Leatherman Wave series.

This combo or something similar is on me everyday regardless of what other knives I might be carrying. It’s easier to carry than a pliars based multi tool and imho just as useful if not more so sometimes.IMG_0256.jpeg

I guess I've simply gotten used to having one on my belt over the last few decades and just don't even notice it. Mine is on the left side even though I'm right handed. I think that stems from back when I also carried an LB7 on the right side. Back then I would have been more balanced.

I have a Russlock in my right front pocket and usually also a Spyderco PM3LW, so I'm still fairly balanced.

Well, except for my morals. They tend to lean right....
