Greetings all, I just wanted to share my knife related events of yesterday afternoon. There is a little gun/knife/assorted stuff shop somewhat nearby to me, and I got the itch to pay it a visit. It's run by an old-timer who has an eclectic mix of used and some new firearms, including a ton of blackpowder rifles. He also has an assortment of production folders and a nice supply of Gransfors Bruks axes. To make a long story short, I spied a copy of Ed Fowler's book "Knife Talk" which I greedily snapped up. I also dug through his little box of "assorted slip-joints" and spied a nice little swell-center whittler from Camillus. The walk and talk of all three blades was nice and crisp. The scales were a nice honey-jigged delrin and the blades were my favorite for a slippie, 1095. So, of course, I bought that too. We had a nice time shootin' the poop about knives, but I was surprised at his relative lack of knowledge about knives for a business man in his line. I asked if he frequents any online sites, and he almost shot me a look of horror at the thought. Hopefully, I talked some business sense into him about the well informed knife public. (at least some of us!

I have been reading Ed's book almost non-stop since, and must put in a hearty recommendation for all you knife knuts to seek this book out and get it.
All in all, a pretty darn good afternoon.
