So Ive been obsessively watching knife pimping videos on the tube, and decided I needed to get some custom work done. I first contacted the two "most popular" guys I know of. About 2 weeks went by, with no responses, so I tried again. Another week, still nothing. I then contacted a forums member who I was told did amazing work, but doesnt have any videos I could find. I got a personal response with prices and availability of services by the time I got home from work that night. I still have not received any response from the famous youtube pimpers, and well I can see that they post new videos almost daily, I cant imagine they haven't checked their inbox in over a month. I would have appreciated any response, but to not reply at all for over a month from multiple messages is imho very disrespectful. Do I have to earn some sort of name or reputation in the knife community to pay this guy to do what he does for a living? Ill be sending my money, and knives to the very polite and responsive forums member. I kind of feel like I asked a celebrity for his autograph and he just kept walking by. Needless to say, I wont be watching his shows anymore. Jerk.

The same thing happened to me, and the work by our forum member was outstanding. I know where I will be going for any future work!

I used ModifiedZ and was very satisfied with his work. He is a forum member. I just sent him a PM; he did not know me previously.

I should explain that after I sent him my piece, I underwent an extremely stressful personal situation. ModifiedZ answered every single e-mail I sent him, and he has a full time job in addition to his mod work. I will never forget his kindness.

Tuffthumbz has stated that it's better to call or text him if you want work done. You know he gets tons of emails everyday so it's probably hard to get back to everyone.

I did not contact ModifiedZ, but I do enjoy his videos. I was looking for a carbon fiber scale specifically, but when I'm ready for some anodizing work, or If I ever get myself a Hinderer, I might just try and send it to him. Some of those multicolored XM's Ive seen on his channel make my jaw drop.

I have no explanation for them, but perhaps there is another explanation other than they were disrespecting you?

As a service provider, I try my best to respond quickly...but I have about a dozen accounts that I have abandoned over the years (my YouTube account is one that I VERY RARELY check). Is it possible that you contacted the wrong address for these guys?

Also, some of the HIGHLY skilled guys will team up with a larger entity and offer work exclusively through that entity. The entity gets a cut and agrees to promote and handle the finances (not everyone has the desire to deal with customers that refuse to use PayPal), the service provider agrees in exchange to not conduct business outside the avenue of the entity's business front.

That said, the VERY best guys I have seen (that are under contract), seem to respond quickly with a polite statement to the effect that they work exclusively through (whatever vendor they are hooked up with).

Hey brother call or text Tuffthumbz his number is on his web page he will answer or get back to you I can vouch for that. just talked to him the other day and asked him for some advice between two knives I was considering buying he took the time to give me his opinion. Standup dude

Thanks guys, I probably wasn't using the best form of communication seeing as they get 100s of emails a day. Ill try texting or calling tomorrow.
