Hey all, I had to tell you about an experience I had with Eugene at Olamic cutlery. I bought a wayfarer and after much use I decided to give it to my brother for his graduation. It was one of my favorite blades and thought he would appreciate it. I was wrong. after watching some videos on ti flame anodization he decided that stainless steel is probably the same thing and took a flame to it. He utterly destroyed it. I contacted Eugene and explained how disappointing I was that my first blade on bearings had been destroyed. In my email I asked if maybe he could repair it and what ever he wanted to charge would be more then acceptable.

He asked for some pics and I sent the knife to him. Upon examination the knife turned out to be a total loss my brother had destroyed the pivot. Sensing my despair Eugene offered to replace the knife free of charge. I was shocked and thanked him profusely but he seemed almost embarrassed with how thankful I was. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and I can say with out a shadow of a doubt this is a knife/company is one you want to be in. This is my first of what hopefully be many knives from Olamic cutlery/Eugene. In my book customer service is gold. There are a lot of good knife makers out there but not all are good people too.

That's awesome. I'm really looking forward to joining the Wayfarer owners family. Communication with Eugene has been nothing but impeccable.

Excellent customer service, and hopefully he doesn't see an influx of user-abused knives that people will now expect to be replaced for free.

Never paid much attention to Olamic but I always enjoy hearing these kind of stories. I'll definitely look into them now.

Eugene is the man. I would send him a few bucks as a thank you if I were you because that is so far above and beyond its almost unbelievable.

Eugene has gone above and beyond to hook me up with a Wayfarer. Just spectacular customer service. He listens well and takes nothing personally. He should be cloned. :)

Seriously, I cannot believe that happened! I would slap my brother back in time if he did that to my knife.

But in all honesty, Eugene is a great guy, I've heard nothing but amazing stories about his customer service. All those stories urged me to get a wayfarer myself, Eugene actually told me that they are working on a 3.5" wayfarer for fall, but I'm not certain if it's gonna happen or not! These are great knives with an awesome owner that goes out of his way to please his customers.

Yes, I would absolutely send him some money. That mistake was something Eugene paid for and while a good natured gesture ultimately his own loss.

That was a nice thing Eugene did . I did a recent deal with Eugene and was one of the fastest transactions I had ever done on Ti Bolstered Wayfarer . If you have so extra I would send it his way as a thank you. I wouldn't give my brother anything but a pair of scissors of that stunt.

Eugene is a great person. He cares about his customers and is always professional. He and Mike Vagnino, the master craftsman behind the Wayfarer, make a perfect team. Great thread sir.

^^^ I've had the pleasure of working with Eugene often. None better!

That's pretty awesome. It's always good to hear about companies and makers making things right. Especially when they don't have to.

If I were the OP, in addition to this praise thread I'd be peddling Olamic Cutlery to any poor sap in ear shot.
