My Father Has Been Busy

Yeah, IN rocks in that regard. With a simple CCW permit (honestly as easy as paying about $40, getting printed, and telling the sheriff why you want to carry a handgun), there isn't anything under the sun (within reason of course) that I can't carry.

Heck, a KY State Police officer told my father-in-law to NOT register his father's old S&W revolver:eek:

Well, I have the lifetime permit so it was $75 but I never have to renew it as long as I live.

I never leave the house without a gun and a knife, at least one of each, sometimes a couple three and reloads.

Not sure about registering a gun or what that even means though, I haven't ever registered a gun.
I am known as a CCW and firearm owner but I can't recall ever having to register a specific firearm. ;)
That precludes any NFA weapons I might own though, those are registered and taxed appropriately. (don't have any of them any longer though) :D

Number 9 just arrived, confirming HI's reputation as the world's fastest shipper - 50 hours from time email was sent to arrival of package on my front porch:cool:. It's actually a larger knife than I expected, very comfortable grip and SHARP:eek: convexed 4" blade.
Making chicken fajitas for dinner, should be just the thing. Thanks, Yangdu and Pala.

I think what he was getting at is reporting the the feds that he was in possession of the old gun (like when they call in when you by a gun from a dealer). He was incredibly new to firearms and didn't want to get in trouble.

And the lifetime permit is on my short list in a couple years;)

Number 3 showed up today. I agree with Berkley regarding the size of the knife-much larger than I expected. Good sharp edge and the finger grooves fit nicely. It'll be put to work soon.

Thanks for the good work, Kami Sherpa.

#12 showed up today, and like the others say WOW it's bigger than I was expecting:)

Not a bad thing at all. It's plenty sharp and just begging for a sheath. Excellent work, Pala:thumbup:

My two "Pala Kardas" came today and I am really pleased.
Now I have all three types of karda made by HI, Kumar Kardas, YCS Kardas and the very limited edition Pala Kardas.
No doubt these little guys will be working in my kitchen for as long as I am cooking.

I think HI came up with a good idea on the "Pala's kitchen kardas" (PKK). Same principle that has made HI khukuris so popular over the years: handles sized for Western hands:thumbup:. There has never been any doubt that a well-made karda has a useful blade, but even the best blade (when you think about the physics involved) is only the business end of a lever. Without adequate grip, the usefulness is diminished. This design lets the blade work to its potential.

I used mine to trim some beef last night. With the longer handle, Pala's convex edge, and a little TLC on a loaded strop I was trimming fat and cubing steak in no time flat.

Great little kitchen knife:)

These Pala Kardas are a nice addition. I had some time and frustration on my hands due to some compie woes, so i decided to do a little customising by rounding the corners, doing a little contour sanding and added a steel buttcap. I'm not a big fan of lanyards so i plugged the hole with a little piece of aluminium rod. The buttcap sure makes this thing balance on yer finger nicely.:D

Nice work Karda! The butt plate looks great!
I mean it looks like a peened tang type butt plate.
Sort of two layers and I have to say it is a nice, straight cut on the metal too.
I don't think I would be able to make such a cap for mine, at least not one so neat.
I do like the lanyards on mine but I really do like the look of the butt plate.

I wound up with a maple one and one of the walnut ones as well.
I sent the other maple one to my friend in Australia for his use and collection.

It never hurts to ask. This post is a few months old & it doesn't say that #4 or #6 are sold. If any of the 2 are still available for purchase I would be interested in buying it or both

I never saw this thread until today. I guess I joined the party a couple of months too late; any chance we might see a similar posting in the near future.

As far as i know there are no more Pala Kardas available. They were either sold or gifted by auntie. As these were pretty much a one time deal that pala decided to do to occupy himself while visiting auntie and having surgery, wether or not there will be more is unclear. Pala has since returned to nepal. I suppose if there was enough interest expressed in them we could ask if pala has time and inclination to make some more for us.

well obviously missed this - if anymore get made or dont sell or what have you i will take 2 of them. -- very nice work

opps i goofed i didn't see that there were two pages of posts
