It's kinda rare for me to get the whole family out to the woods. The wife isn't exactly "outdoorsy" and my 4 year old is pretty well convinced she's royalty and has no place around dirt. Add to that a 4 month old and you have a recipe for little woods time with the fam.

As my fathers day present I got to do what ever I wanted...... So my wife had to endure a trip to one of my favorite at spots with the kids.

This is a nice quiet spot on the Mantua creek. I grew up about 3 miles down the creek but the waters much deeper there and it's private property no longer owned by my family. I'm Lenni Lenape Indian and my ancesters lived along the banks of this creek. I've found quite a few arrowheads in this creek and I always like to imagine my great, great, great grandfather knapping them out all those years ago.

Anyway, here are some pics:

Had some trees down over the creek.

Plenty of poison ivy around.

Here's my knives for the trip.

And afterward, my wonderful wife got me my favorite food for dinner.

I had a blast but now I'll have about 5 trips to the mall and hours of playing Barbies with my girls to make up for it but it was worth it.

Looks like a cool way to spend fathers day! That stream looks very refreshing right about now.

Great shots - I really like the first and last one! I think its great that you managed to get the whole family out on your special day. I hope you told your girls that story about the arrowheads and you keep re-telling it. They may look at you like you are senile, but it will sink in. I'm pretty sure your enthusiasm will infect them all eventually :)

great pics.. we also went on a little hike, in the state park across the street...:o

nice poison ivy pic.. i've never really been around that stuff before... the "leaves of 3 let it be" rule still applies i see...

MMMM.... Sushi. What kind of roll is that? I like the spicy yellowfin, and the eel myself..

Dynomite roll. I think its a local thing.

"Scallops in tempura style, asparagus and carrots rolled with creamy spicy sauce." One of my favorites but at 10 bucks a roll, it's a treat for special occasions.

I'm so addicted to sushi, I think I'd eat a turd if you wrapped in seaweed and rice.

Hey shotgunner11 - really nice pictures. I also especially like the first one of the creek, not to detract from your beautiful little girls, of course.

As far as eating a turd goes, if you ever tasted my cooking, you'd realize the turd would be an improvement. :o My neighbours (I live in an apartment) have offered to feed me if I promise not to cook. :(
