I made a round stick version of this today. Thought I would post up this as an option.
Here is my five year old - who helped - triggering the trap with a 'Squirrel Stick':
What I like about this trap is that you can set the trigger a multitude of ways. On the side, diagonal, or underneath. It is easy to set and trips easily.
My son had to trigger another one - so he helped me set it up. You would think that stick would learn!
