I just received this knife the other day and I can honestly say that I am quite impressed by it. I was looking for a knife that is hefty and opens as quickly as possible. I also wanted the knife to use decent quality steel.

This knife is one of the quickest opening knives I own. It rivals Emerson's waved knives. The price was right to. $47. It has AUS 8 steel with a double flipper. The additional flipper is the secret for the speed of the knife.\

For more money of course there are better knives out there. That will always be true.

The handle is only Zytel, but the texturing and the thickness of the handle helps the grip of the knife out a lot.

There is not much more for me to ask for this knife without sacrificing a larger price tag.

Any other comments?

deathshed,

welcome to the forums!

I agree with you on the Cruiser. I think the handle is one of its best features, as it really fills your hand. I like AUS-8 and the blade shape screame "put me to use!" I would like to see a plain edged version come out.

Definitely a great knife for the money there!

Seems like a very nice knife. Thanks for sharing. I like my CRKT M16-13.

I have read many request for knives to be plain edge. Many people seem to dislike serrations a great deal. What are the reasons for this?

I don't like partial serrations on folders since they often get hung up on various material, e.g. cloth, that a plain edge will zip thru.

Does the second flipper act as a wave feature?

I agree with Daniel L. on this as well. For me, I've found that the combo edges, though they are handy, always seem to hang up where I want to start a cut. Maybe it's the ratio? Don't know. I've tried several and they just don't quite do it for me. The one exception that I've run into has been my Buck/Strider 887 SBT Police Advocate. This one has a slightly larger blade (3.5 inches, I think) and it actually works pretty well. Maybe it's just that on a 3 in. blade a 50/50 or 60/40 doesn't allow the functionality it should. I have a Gerber EZ-out and I think it's got about a 70 percent serrated edge, and it works quite well when I do use it. Full plain edge or full serrated have been better options for the majority of things that I do.

I'm with you robertmegar I prefer the M1. It is a tank of a knife, that fits like a glove. A very comfortable grip, easy to open and one of the two thickest AUS-8 blades CRKT has produced, the other being the Hawk D.O.G.
Thick liners, LAWKS and a beltclip that will mount all 4 ways tip up, tip down left or right. I rescaled mine, I think its a steal at the price they're going for.

I have no regrets with this knife. The tactical quickness and style of the knife are unmatched (for the price) in my opinion. You can obtain a new Cruiser for $20 now and it is way undervalued. They can be hard to find new for that money, but some wholesalers on ebay have that price. This knife is extremely fast, even with its over average weight/bulk. I highly recommend this knife.

I don't know about the quality of the more recent ones, but some of these CRKT models were very popular back in the early days of OIF and help up pretty well. They didn't have the best edge retention but stayed relatively solid in lock-up and were fun to flip open and play with.

They're $25 now & are pretty solidly built. They're a steal if you're into full-size weapon-like folders. The flipper works well with a slight wrist flick.

Plus, it's just plain fun, evilly tough, and lethal.

Knife lethality IS fun! That's the message we are trying to get out to the "sheeple."

Not really, but a knife can be use in a lethal manor, same as a car, prescription drugs, etc. My point being, pretty much anything can be lethal if used a certain way and everyone knows it, tip toeing around the truth and worrying about the sheep doesn't change anything. Should we be emphasizing it, probably not, but one guys comment on a forum, who cares.
