My favorite fixed blade that I never use.

About two years ago I got the DPX HEFT 4 Mil Spec (black g10 handles, stonewashed blade). The only other fixed blades I have are a Mora Bushcraft Black and a Kabar Mark I.

The DPX is amazing. I love the thickness, the Niolox steel, and how great it feels in my hand no matter what position I hold it in. The only issue is, I never use it. It's legal for me to carry, but I'd get some intense looks if I ever pulled it out. I'm also a college student so it's obviously not allowed on campus not that I would need it there. I've used it around the house, usually in the winter when I split smaller logs into kindling just for fun (yes an axe would be easier, but batonning is fun and almost therapeutic to me)

Should I sell it? It's seriously the nicest feeling knife I've ever owned I just never get to use it. Does anyone else have situations similar to this? Or would you all suggest I just sell it ?

Thanks

I got this handmade traditional machete from the Phillipines. The craftsmanship is excellent, the contoured handle and wooden scabbard have unique engraved details and shapes, and it cost me not much money.

But I have only used it very slightly, with smaller tasks and not being hard on it, even though it begs to be used and is a joy to handle. Why?

Because it's so pretty, beautiful and sexy to me, and I have many more machetes and production pieces to beat on.

Not that it ain't a hard use blade, or that it wasn't made to be put to work, but I just prefer to care of it and keep it clean, nice and ready.

YMMV, of course, but do whatever floats your boat!

This is a great knife with a beautiful sheath but I never carry it. I would prefer an ESEE 3 type knife or something along the non-tradional line.

I simply have too darned many fixed blades that I do not use! It's hard to choose a favorite of my non-used fixed blades.

I have a passion for fixed blades - their strength, utility and connection with the outdoors. My ownership and acquisition of them is driven by my passion for the outdoors as well as things that are functional and rugged.

Probably my original Puma White Hunter, Chris Reeves "Neil Roberts Knife" or my Straight Handle Battle Mistress that I got from Jerry Busse are about my favorites of the embarrassingly too many unused fixed blades that I have. BTW: Please don't tell Jerry that the SHBM is a Safe Queen.

Queen Cutlery. D2 tool steel. Thanks.

I would consider letting it go...

A view of the other side.

I got my eyes on Hess right now. I unfortunately don't have many opportunities to carry a belt knife so my next fixed blade purchase is on stand still for a while. I can still appreciate a nice knife when I see one though.

Appreciate the compliment. I guess the main reason I don't carry it is the vertical leather sheath...it's a very nice sheath but not my carry style.

I'd keep the fixed blades. Things may change or you may change.

I have quite a few little used or never used fixed blade knives. That doesn't stop me from getting another one. Fixed blades just say "knife" and I like knives regardless of my usage.

Use that blade like you stole it. I was the same way, buy a knife I love and just stare at it. Then one day i realized, how do i really know if i even like the knife? Use that thing or at least carry it with you. If you love it, you will love it more if its always with you.

You're the only one that can really answer that question. Judging by your post though it seems like you've already decided; while it may not be workable as an EDC it's pretty apparent you like it nonetheless. Given that, why even entertain a sale? If you can honestly say it's the "nicest feeling knife I've ever owned" I'm guessing you would end up wishing you never parted with the thing if you sold it.

Not sure if it's blasphemous to say, but my gso 4.1 sees the least time out. I should have gotten a 5.1 instead. The 4.1 is too similar to my bk 16 in size, shape, and weight. And me and my 16 have too much history.
And if I'm out for a day hike, I opt for something a smidgen smaller.

This selling makes little sense to me especially when you like a particular blade. I don't particularly understand the commonality here of buying and then selling quickly. The same applied to firearms although I did buy and sell for the fun of it for a couple years. Never made any money of any consequence. Just gave me a reason to attend gun shows then.

My BK-15 sees more carry time in the woods than any other fixed blade I own. I understand folks liking Becker stuff.

I have not carried any of my fixed blades in years. But since are both 1980's era Old Timers I'm keeping them.
