My favorite time of year for being outdoors, almost here...

Anyone else getting excited? :D

I love the fall. Sitting around a campfire, cooking chili or whatever we decided to bring for the trip, chopping and splitting wood, carving on green wood, and just relaxing.

I picked up a curved-blade knife and am planning to take a stab at making spoons this year. Here's hoping the 4.5's ship out before the season is over!

I love the crisp nights: There are no bugs, you don't sweat. Great sleeping weather.

I love fall and especially spring. I think the change of seasons is exciting. In the midwest we get a good representation of all 4 seasons, but I wouldn't mind if winter was a few months shorter.

I reeeeeaaaaally want a firepit for the backyard. Fall would be even nicer. And dude! Standard and Brian have inspired me to attempt some spoon making. I'm going to go at it like a total rookie only using my GSO's, so we'll see if I produce anything worth posting.

Post up some pics of your fall activities if you get a chance!

Falls not as good fishing for me as spring. But much nicer to camp in. Love that chilli weather. We don't get enough winter weather here IMHO. It could last a couple extra months here and I'd be fine. I'm stoked for hunting season fast approaching. If I can get better with a bow I think that's all I'm gonna shot this year, but its not looking good for me right now. I got a long way to go in just a matter of weeks before I'm comfortable taking game.

I was just thinking the same thing. Finally getting down into the 60s at night might even get a fire going in the back yard tonight.
I'm 2 years ahead on firewood so I'm looking forward to the heating season. Check back with me in March:eek:

Looking forward to salmon fishing, turkey, deer and bear season ontop of the best time of the year to get out and bushcraft/hike and do some over nighters in the mountains.

Love fall as well. Went to Aspen on Wednesday to take some photos and will head out all next week with my wife to take fall foliage photos around Colorado.

Wednesday night at the Maroon Bells. Moonlight provided more than enough light in this long exposure..

Lars that is absolutely incredible! With how clear the land scape is and the stars in the sky, I don't think I've seen anything like that. Amazing. You have quite a talent. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you. I have a few thousand more photos on my facebook page; always out taking photos in my free time. Colorado is beautiful. :)

Ok........ I was going to email or private message you, but I didn't see the option. Anyways, I found a lot of your work online and the pic here is just a small sample of a series of outstanding work. Taking photographs worth displaying is a life goal of mine, but at this point I know nothing. Are you able to say what you do to get such dynamic color contrast and vibrancy in your photographs?

I hope you got some pictures of the blood moon and eclipse last night. I couldn't see a star in the sky here it was too cloudy. So I ended up missing out. :(

I took some epically poor cell phone pics. My wife's good friend in Louisiana said the same thing about it being too cloudy.

I'm just west of Louisiana by a little over an hour. Its still so cloudy here you can't see jack in the sky. Some of my family and friends south of me got some nice pictures they posted on fb.

We had beautiful clear skies... I just forgot about it and went to bed early so I could get up at 4am to work out ><

I know I said chili in the first post, but we have a lot of fun varying what we cook out there. Chili, ground sausage sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, beef stew... and this one which may have been my favorite; biscuits and gravy with bacon on the side.

That was a really chilly morning, and having that hearty breakfast made the trip. We cheated by buying pre-cooked biscuits at a deli on the way out, but oh well.
