Just got this one done really late this evening or should I say early morning. Narrowed down the handles a bit to fit my smaller hands. The blade also got a little bit narrower because I kinda screwed up my grind in the beginning. I was praying that it wouldn't turn into a BT4 by the time I was done ;) Overall, I think it turned out pretty good. Will probably make a kydex sheath for it tomorrow. Thanks again Andy.

You can buy a 12" Fiddleback Machete Here

Ban you and Andy need to do a collabroation (sp?) Choiless BT4 with a Fiddleback Bolstered Handle and I would chew your arm off to get it!! :D

Ha! So you did finish it last night after all, eh? Looks like you evened it out nicely.

WIP :)

Yeah I had to take a break for a little bit and relax. Mistakes do and will happen. Your attitude and outlook will play a big part in finding a solution. In my case I just needed to step back and take a breather because I was getting increasingly frustrated as the grind slow got worse. Sometimes we get stubborn and try to rush and find solution right away. I would have ended up with a Fiddleback BT4 if I used that approach last night :D

I have to come and one day and watch you do a set of handles.
.

Sure man!

that looks awesome, can't wait to handle it.

Its very light and fast. Andy did a good job designing these. To me the narrowed out handle is perfect and just feels right in my hand. You can choke up or down and it still feels solid in your grip.

ban, i know you're a bladesmith (and a really good one, love both of mine from you), and i don't want to hijack a thread, so feel free to just pm me if you want. but would you ever take on a project to just do a set of handles? i've got a Fallkniven F1 that i never use b/c i just don't like the thermoplast handles. too small, too blah.

would you consider making a set of micarta handles for a blade if i sent it to you?you did a red/black set of handles on a BT4, that i just missed out on buying a couple months back.

i think with the thermosplast handled F1's the tang is a touch smaller, b/c it's a wrap-around handle. so you'd have to drill a couple holes out and maybe use a spacer to complete the wrap around? man, if i could talk you into a handle like this:

on an F1 i never use b/c i don't like the handle, you'd make me a happy, happy man. or even a blk/gry micarta handle, similar style.

would you take on a project like that? i found this pic of what the tang looks like when you strip off the thermoplast handle if that helps.
thanks for the time/advice!

gentemanndvm,

I can probably rehandle something like that using a mortised tang handle construction. However, I just don't have the time to take on that sort of project right now along with trying to make knives in a reasonably time frame. I really should just quite my day job already.

Yea I'm pretty sure that you could make it going full time. Hell a man get get one of your knives unless he sees it in under 10 mins :D after you post it. But quitting your day job is a scary thought in this day and time. Well I know it would be for me anyway.

Letting go of my day job and steady income is definitely scary. Still haven't made that step yet.
