Made from a old, old Nicholson horseshoe rasp, stag handle, copper guard and buttcap, turquoise spacer. This one has a satin finish as you can see. I made one previous to this one with a mirror finish and can't decide which I prefer.

I love working with old files....they have so much personalilty in my opinion.

Hope Santa is good to all you fine folks.

I believe it's a super knife in styling and finish except I hate that file thing. For me it disrupts the overall beauty of the Bowie style. Just my opinion. Frank

I think it's a great looking knife. The pattern from the file gives the blade character that sets it apart from the others. Keep up the good work.

i personally like the file texture, looks cool!
The handle aint too shabby either;)
Beautiful! i prefer satin to mirroe so i like this one alot
all the best

I love it. The file part gives it character and as others have stated, speaks of it's past. Awesome to see a tool reborn, sort of reincarnation of tools. :-)

I also prefer the satin finish as well. I'll take it anyday over a mirror finish.

sweet blade. ive never used a rasp but when i made one from a file i just left the teeth on the back of the blade so they could still be used to an extent. you could also argue yours adds functionality by breaking any suction if you cut anything fleshy...

VERY cool looking knife!!

Hey Manassas,

I annealed it by soaking at 400 degrees for two hours and then turning off the furnace and letting it cool down overnight. I then worked it like any other carbon steel blade, hardened to non-magnetic, quenched, then tempered...just that easy. I think I like the satin finish over the mirror finish.

Merry Christmas everyone.
