I thought I needed more practice grinding, so I worked on a throw away file.
I did not get any comments in the other post, just wondering if it was that bad? :)

Nevermind the other post. Sometimes people are just busy or looking at other threads. It's not personal. This blade looks great. Got a bayonet thing going on there. Use a fresh sharp belt to clean up and even out the top of the main bevel grind and it will look very neat. Not sure why there is such a kink in the tang though.

Looks pretty convex, going to chop many things? ☺
I like how slim it is, reminds me of a stiletto, or bayonete like Marc said. You'll probably want to smooth the tang a bit for the handle.

Still trying to learn a flat grind. I actually started to do this one with a flat grind, and ended up with 3 different bevels, cleaned it up by taking the planten off and putting a convex grind on it. I will eventually figure it out.
The tang was me working with it while I was annealing it. I was trying to put a slight curve to the handle, so much for that idea. I will eventually clean it up, put a guard and handle on it. I was going for an "Arkansas toothpick" look.
I am going to have to cut another blank and have a go at the flat grind again. Was having a terrible time using my bubble jig, despite watching Fred's video's.

Personally, I'm having a problem seeing enough in the photos to make anything I say meaningful. I can't even see what would lead someone to say it looked convex.

Here's what I can see. You have a nicely cut plunge line on the one side shown. The swedge line at the top seems to be less clean. The flat grind on the bottom looks pretty good, but seems to be wavy at the center line... that, or I'm seeing shadows that don't exist. I'm not sure what kind of handle treatment you're considering but that tang looks a little funky to me. Not sure why you'd taper the end the way you did unless you were thinking of putting this in a down-sloped handle, and even then it has me scratching my head.

Also, I'm not clear on what you want this knife to do. As noted before, it looks like a stabbing weapon, as opposed to a slicing tool. I doubt it would be much use at a dinner table. ;)

I actually like the shape, if it's going to be a stabber. But then a stabbing weapon probably wouldn't need a downsloped handle... so again, scratching my head.

Thanks for the critique. Pictures suck, I agree. Could not get a good pic of it. I agree with all the criticism. Will work on the handle.

As long as its a throw away maybe try something like this

I started out with a file knife, but the part I didn't know at the time was you were supposed to leave the ridges ;0) I wound up with a fantastic 6" razor sharp mirror finish dagger style letter opener ;0)
